A Bourbon Affair + What I Wore + Weekly Post Recap

Yesterday, Lanier and I headed out for a day date to ‘A Bourbon Affair,’ part of the Charleston Wine & Food Festival.  I’d given him these tickets for Christmas, so we’d been looking forward to attending for awhile now. // Lanier’s Shirt and Shades

It did not disappoint.  I loved the venue at The Cigar Factory.  Such a cool open space downtown.

How amazing are these feather Brackish Bowties.

Every tie is a sustainable work of art.

Ben Ross (left) didn’t want to give his groomsmen just another beer stein or cuff links as gifts, so he crafted turkey feather bowties for them.  They were such a hit, that he decided to start a business with one of those groomsmen, Jeff Plotner (right).  Fast forward ten years, and Brackish Bowties are now carried in over 300 stores, including Neiman Marcus.  Each tie is handcrafted in South Carolina by a team of 50 artisans and no two ties are exactly alike.

They’ll be at the Village throughout the festival weekend.  If you need an original gift, this is a good one.

While I’m not a huge bourbon fan, Lanier loved sampling all the different brands and had a great time!

What I Wore

Top // Earrings // Pants (I absolutely LOVE these pants, they are structured enough, but not too stiff.  For fit, they’re true to size, but really long.  I’m 5’6″ and was able to wear these wedge sandals under them and didn’t have to hem them.  The tie on the back is really cute too.  If you need more convincing, read all the amazing reviews!)

Speaking of these wedge sandals, they’ve sold out at Nordstrom, but I found them available in all sizes here.

My dress is now $175 off and currently available in all sizes! I went  with a medium in this dress for length.  It’s a little shorter than her other ones, but  I still love it.  I’m 5’6″ if that helps.  I’ve had this one since this past Fall, wore it with leggings and booties then.  So versatile!  // Cardigan (same style, slightly different color) // Bow Wedges (Y’all, I LOVE these wedges!  You may remember them from this post a few weeks ago.  They’re new, but such classics that I’ll have them in my closet for years and years to come.)

I hope you’re having a great weekend!  It’s going to be cold here today!  Wasn’t expecting that.  Guess a boat ride isn’t in our cards today.

Happy Saturday!

  1. I am obsessed with your blonde friend’s longer white top (saw it on your IG, too) Could you please link it up? Love those blue and white pants, too!

  2. Ugh, it was cold, especially since we’re visiting from Florida. Still enjoying our time in Charleston.
