A Weekend Away

I hope y’all had an awesome weekend!  As I mentioned on Friday’s post, my girlfriends and I headed off for a much-needed girl’s weekend.  These are girls I’ve known since our oldest children were young babies.  Since then, some of us (including myself) have moved away, so we always pick at least one weekend to get together and catch up on our lives.  We had an incredible time laughing, crying, laughing so hard we were crying, just the best time.  Time away to relax, especially with friends who know you so well, is so very good for the soul.  I’m so thankful we’re able to take advantage of such an amazing weekend, and did I mention the weather was absolutely perfect?  This was only our second annual trip, but I hope it continues well into our eighties.

Since I didn’t have to travel far, I was able to wait and leave when Lanier came home from work.
A celebratory cheers was in order when we finally made it!

The first night, we headed to Bohicket Marina for dinner.  We used to frequent this marina when we vacationed here growing up.  Had to snap a pic of the sign to send to my family.
I honestly could’ve parked myself here all weekend.

Saturday morning we headed out for breakfast.  So many things looked delicious, so I got the lox bagel AND this sandwich which I must re-create.  It had fig preserves, prosciutto, brie and green apples.  Absolutely heavenly!

There was a flash sale at one of the places we stopped, so I snagged this Mara Hoffman Dress.  I loved it so much in the tan color, that I knew I was going to love the blue one too.
Afterward, we headed to The Sanctuary at Kiawah and walked around.
It was fun watching them set up for an event that was taking place there later that day.

We couldn’t be this close to the beach without getting our feet wet.  It was honestly warm enough that people were on the beach in their swimsuits and some were even swimming.
While we didn’t squeeze in time for reading, we did lots of talking on this awesome swing, back at the house.
On Saturday night, we dined at a new place called Lokal.  If you’re visiting the area, you must try it.  Absolutely loved everything.  Above was a sampler platter with a crab cake, scallops and tuna.
One of our appetizers – fried oysters.
What I Wore

Top // Jeans // Wedges (on sale!) // Ring // Necklace
Back at the house, it cooled off enough to build a fire.
I think we impressed ourselves that we were actually able to keep it lit.

Sweatshirt // Denim Cutoffs (these have sold out, but I’ve included similar ones below) // Flip Flops

On Sunday morning, we enjoyed some leftovers, packed up and headed home.
We said it last year, and we said it again this year, next year, we must start our trip a day earlier.  There’s just not enough time!  Love these girls so much!  If you have girlfriends, I’m sure you know the feeling.  In this world of technology, where it’s so easy to keep in contact with so many via texts, emails, social media – nothing compares to being in the moment and spending real time with those you love.
Hope y’all have a great start to your week!

  1. My college girlfriends and I do an annual trip and it's seriously the most precious time! Nothing beats hanging out with your favorite girls in person. Glad you had a great trip!

  2. It looks like you had a lovely weekend! Was the house a rental? I've been meaning to plan a trip to SC with some girlfriends and would love to have a house recommendation.

  3. What an amazing get away. It's great to have close friends where distant can keep you from seeing each other, but once together you feel like you were never apart. Congrats on your second year but seriously it only seems like a few months ago since you post about the first getaway with your friends.
