Wednesday Whereabouts: Our Halloween

img_4313

What a weekend!  On Saturday morning, we took the kids fishing and they loved it!  I’ll admit, it’s the first time any of us have felt sea sick, but we were just anchored in the wrong spot, with too many rolling waves.  Once we moved away from the waves, we were okay again.  Thank goodness!img_4300

So foggy!img_4339 img_4363

After fishing, the kids all insisted we go to an island and play.  This time of year, no one really ventures out anymore, so we had the beach to ourselves.  They are seriously in their happiest place here.  Lanier and I keep saying how moving here has been the best decision.  That moving closer to the water has been the thing for them…and us.img_4389

Surprisingly, the water is still bearable to swim!fullsizerender

Lanier racing the kids.  He had to run backwards.  The kids loved it!img_4448

On Sunday morning, Wheeler woke up with a stomach bug so she wasn’t able to go to church with us.  Lanier stayed home with her, while I took the others.

That afternoon, Wheeler was feeling much better and said she wanted to go fishing again.  I’m sure glad we did!  We caught this huge red fish, but it was about three inches too long so we had to throw it back.  So much for that night’s dinner! // Sunnies // Swim Top // Shorts (similar)img_4536

None of them wanted to touch it, but said they’d be in the picture.img_4580

Effie’s the only one who’s brave enough to hold the fish.fullsizerender

Oh man, do the boys need major haircuts!  This pic I snapped of them on Monday looks like they’re straight out of the 70s!img_4657

Halloween was awesome!  We had the best time trick-or-treating!  This was the first year Lanier and I dressed up because the kids insisted.  And they loved it!  I thought I wasn’t going to get to wear my cat sweatshirt because it was so hot earlier in the day, but the weather cooled down quickly and I was able to wear it! // Cat Headband (on sale for $13) // Sunnies // Dior Overcurl // YSL Plump Up Lip // Mac Candy Yum-Yumimg_4689

We forgot to put on Logan’s Hulk hands, but I think it worked out.  It would’ve been pretty hard to hold that bucket with them.  Lanier was like a kid on Christmas when he was trick-or-treating.  He loves chocolate, so he was in heaven!  He would also compliment everyone at their door.  “I like your pumpkins!” “I like your costume!” It was the cutest!img_4695

The cutest little Kilo Ren.

I tried as hard as I could to fix Effie’s hair like Rey from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.img_4701 img_4864

My parents are vacationing at the beach near here this week, so they came over to visit for a few hours yesterday.  I still can’t believe it was the first time they’d ridden on our boat.  The weather was perfect for an evening boat cruise.img_4824

Since they couldn’t be in town to celebrate Vaughn’s birthday last week, we enjoyed a cookie cake and sang happy birthday to Vaughn again.  That cookie with chocolate frosting was so good!  It’s safe to say we miss them already and hope we get to see them again soon!

I hope y’all are having a great week so far!  Just a heads up, I’m starting to prepare holiday gift guides.  Yes, it’s that time again!  If you have a suggestion of one I should create, please comment or email me and I’ll add it to the list!  As I create each gift guide, I’ll add it to my sidebar, so if you feel like you missed one or want to see them all in one place, that’s where they’ll be right up until Christmas!

Happy Wednesday!

  1. Please do an “in-law” gift guide (mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, etc.). My husband’s family is so hard to shop for! It’s always a challenge to find something that’s not too personal/not too generic. Thanks, love your blog!

  2. I am so happy to say I already got all my Christmas shopping done but would love some neighbor gift ideas!

  3. Ashley – I would love to see some of your ideas for holiday (Christmas) outfits too….in addition to your gift ideas! Thanks!

  4. I second the in-law request. Also, a teenager guide would be greatly appreciated! Love your blog!!

    1. A small in the Mara dress. I actually have the leggings in both small and medium, depending on the day. 😉

  5. I always have the hardest time buying for my MIL! I’d love to hear what you’d get for Lanier’s mom/aunt/sister, etc.
