Vanilla Pear Cocktail + Fall Faves: Scarves & Cardigans

It’s 60 degrees here in Charlotte this morning.  Compared to what we’re used to, that’s pretty cold.  With that, I feel like enjoying a yummy Fall cocktail and shopping for toasty scarves and cozy cardigans.  Try out this yummy recipe sometime, it’s so simple and so delicious!

Vanilla Pear Cocktail

(image and recipe found here; serves 4)

12 oz (1.5 cups) pear juice
6 oz vodka
1/2 vanilla bean, seeds scraped
vanilla sugar, for rim
1 cup ice, plus more to serve over

Mix pear juice and vodka in a pitcher or shaker.  Split open the vanilla bean, and scrape the seeds into the juice and vodka.  Add 1 cup ice, then give it a good shake.  Pour into cocktail glasses over more ice and serve with sugared rim.

Over the past six years, I’ve enjoyed sharing Thirsty Thursday cocktails with you each week.  Have a look at all of them here.  Almost all of them,  whether I tried it at a restaurant or online, most of them weren’t ones I found and created at home.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I don’t make different cocktails I’ve used at home, it’s just that I don’t share those pics on this post.  Even today’s cocktail I’m sharing was one someone else made and I just simply shared images of the cocktail.

Now that the children are in school for longer hours, I have more time to create the fun ones I find.  From here on out, I’ll try and share more cocktail recipes I’ve enjoyed and tried out firsthand.  Don’t worry, for those of you who still enjoy my cocktails I post, I’ll still incorporate tasty cocktails I try at different spots around town too!

Cheers!

So I know many of you loved this scarf I shared last week, but said that once you got it, you couldn’t quite figure out how to tie it like I did.  I’m working on a ‘How-To’ post to share with you soon, on tying scarves different ways.  For the time being, today’s scarves are all infinity scarves, meaning you just wrap them around twice and you’re all set.  And even better, they’re ALL $25 and under!

I just love this easy, classic look featuring this red infinity scarf (only $16.94).  The striped tee here has now sold out, but here’s a very similar one.

I’ve been cozying up in this extra soft cardigan non-stop.  Shown here with my favorite pjs designer, Lake Pajamas.

And speaking of comfy, this toss-on dress has been my go-to recently.  And on most days, as soon as I get home, I pair everything with my constants, my Ugg slippers.

I also love my clutches.  Many of you have asked which I like better, the All In One (above) or the Uber.  It honestly depends on what all I feel like carrying inside my clutch that day.

The Uber (above) is larger than the All in One.  Both can be monogrammed, and both make great gifts!

So I’ve almost fixed my daily post emails, but the font is still coming up pretty small.  Still working on getting all that working correctly soon.  Continue to let me know if you’re having trouble accessing or using anything on SSP.

I feel like I’ve read so much about Hurricane Matthew anticipating its arrival on the East coast, that even if it doesn’t hit as bad as initially expected (fingers crossed) that it’ll forever be engrained in my memory.  Of course, in my state of “hurry up and evacuate,” I didn’t even think about what the weather would be like in Charlotte (only three hours away from Charleston), not even an umbrella (but the one above is pretty cute and on sale!).  Well, it’s cold.  I know it’s all relative, but when you’re used to swimming in the ocean and 80 degrees, when it’s in the low 60s here, that’s cold.  I honestly packed only sleeveless dresses for the girls.  We’re considering heading to the pumpkin patch today, but I think it may be too cold, unless I head out and shop for something real quick for the girls.   Clearly it’s not that big of a deal when so many are bracing for the hurricane, but we just haven’t experienced cooler weather quite like this, this season.

  1. Hi Ashley. Loving the new blog layout; however, I’m not getting your updates on my Blogger reading list. You’re one of my faves and I’d hate to miss anything. Just a heads up. Keep up the good work.

    1. Thank you for letting me know, Ashley! I noticed that too. I’m quickly working on a solution!

  2. I hope y’all are staying safe with the hurricane coming!! You must be used to them down there but they’re so crazy to us northerners!

Thanks for the tip on the blanket scarves! I just ordered them for my sister and me.

    1. You’re welcome, Jess! And right now we’re still waiting to see what this hurricane is going to do. We’re not used to having to wait this long to see if it’ll actually hit us or not.
