Thirsty Thursday: Gosling’s Dark ‘n Stormy + Currently Loving

We’ve enjoyed a rather cool start to the week (I’m still talking mid-70s), but now that’s starting to change back over and the heat mixing in is creating afternoon thunderstorms here.  While the cool weather was good while it lasted, I do love a good afternoon storm…

Gosling’s Dark ‘n Stormy
2 ounces Gosling’s Black Seal Rum
4 ounces ginger beer
½ ounce freshly squeezed lime juice (optional and not traditional, but exceptionally tasty)
slice of lime for garnish (optional)
Fill a highball or rocks glass with ice (you want to use a glass that holds about 9 ounces or so).
Add the rum, ginger beer, and lime juice to the glass.
Add a pair of straws, optional lime slice garnish, and serve.
Did you know the makers of Gosling’s Black Seal rum have trademarked the name “Dark ‘n Stormy.” So by law, bars have to use Gosling’s if they serve a drink by that name.

Cheer, Y’all!

What I’m loving lately…

So I know it’s still 2013, but Anthropologie just started carrying Lulie Wallace’s 2014 calendar this week, and I’m in LOVE with every single month!
I feel like it’s such a steal, because you can enjoy her beautiful artwork for an entire year, and then after the year is up, you can frame the twelve gorgeous works of art!

Lilly Pulitzer is on Rue La La today and tomorrow (Friday).  Great deals, but per the usual with Lilly Pulitzer, it’s selling out quickly!  Click HERE for your free invitation!

The girls were so excited that I was able to pick these dresses up, before they sold out!
They’re currently still available in many sizes.
J.Crew’s extra 40% off sale items ends on Sunday, with code: STYLE40.
FYI, they are constantly adding new items to their sale.

Sea Horse Shorts
Was $54.50, Now $27, with code: STYLE40

Ratti Regatta Shorts

Was $98, Now $48, with code: STYLE40
You know I’m on a first-name basis with J.Crew and their printed shorts.
I was able to grab both of these before they sold out in my size this morning.
P.S. Most evenings, J.Crew resets their inventory, so check back most mornings for the most up-to-date inventory on all items.

I thought this Cluster Sequin Top (Was $98, now only $42, with code: STYLE40) would be so fun for me, for one of the girls’ school parties during the year.  When I tried it on last week, W got so upset, because she thought I bought it for her.  I’ve never seen her favor something I wore so much.

Luckily, Crewcuts carries the same Sequin Top (but in a heart shape) for the girls, on sale with free shipping.  So, I made her day by ordering one for her and E.  Hope this (“I want to wear your clothes, Mama”) doesn’t start happening on a regular basis.

Baublebar and J.Crew have always been my favorites for fun statement necklaces, but lately I’ve had my eye on Loren Hope.  I have a few of her fun cocktail rings, but I’m thinking I need to add a necklace (or two) to my statement baubles.

Love the colors of this dress.  I’m thinking it will be a great piece to transition from summer to fall.
Use code: SAVE30BR to receive 30% off this new style, promo ends August 4th.

Gap Printed Roll Sleeve Shirtdress
Love how this could work well now, with a bright colored sandal, and on into the fall with some fun boots.
Use code: GAP25 to receive 25% off your purchase, promo ends August 3rd.

Happy Sipping, Y’all!

  1. Love that Banana Republic dress! I never think to look there anymore – awesome find! And I was just rewatching The Mindy Project and a Dark and Stormy was mentioned, I'd never heard of it before…thanks for sharing the recipe!

  2. Love that Loren Hope Roxy necklace! The only statement necklaces I usually wear are the ones I make, but I will be buying some Loren Hope jewels when I make room in my budget because they're beautiful and made in the USA.
