Thirsty Thursday: Cucumber Gin and Tonic

I thought I’d choose a light, refreshing drink for this week’s cocktail (seen above, on the left).  The hubs got this drink last week, atop the Prudential building in Boston, called Top of the Hub.  In case you’re wondering, his sister got the Pomegranate Martini (middle) and I got the Ultimate Martini (right).

          Ingredients

  • 2 ounces gin
  • 5 ounces tonic water
  • 3 cucumber slices
  • 1 lime wedge
  • Splash of soda water

Place the cucumbers on the bottom of a highball glass.  Squeeze the juice from the lime wedge into the glass.

Use a fork to lightly grind the cucumber slices.

Add a few ice cubes to the highball glass.

Pour the gin and tonic into the glass.  Finish off the drink with a splash of soda water.

Doesn’t this drink sound so refreshing?  I know I love the cucumber water they give you at the spa, so I’m sure this would be so great, with a little added kick of course.

P.S.  If you’d like a less sweet cocktail, lessen the amount of tonic water and add more soda water.

A great, comfy sundress would be perfect with this cocktail!
Hope you enjoy your drink in style, in this hot, summer sun!

The Wednesday Whereabouts yesterday was Wild Dunes.  We’re there now, and loving the relaxation.  It’s located very close to Charleston.  My family and I used to vacation there every summer, until Kiawah became our new beach choice.  Congrats to all of those who guessed it correctly!

  1. These are my favorite cocktails! I love the G&T with cucumbers or a vodka soda with cucumbers! They are so refreshing! Enjoy your vacay!

  2. Love that dress and sandals. I'm going to check out the place you are staying. We plan on heading to the beach next year and I've already started coming up with ideas on where to go.

  3. That dress is super cute, but when I went to the website it says it's not available anymore 🙁

I actually work on Kiawah handling weddings & private events!

  4. Never heard of adding cucumber to a gin and tonic. Sounds delicious and refreshing. 🙂

Those martinis look really good. My kind of drink!

  5. Hi! Wasn't Top of the Hub amazing? Love going there for the view and a few cocktails. And-those SW sandals are so cute. Great taste!
