Thirsty Thursday: The Blueberry Rum Smash

via

The hubs’ dad came back from visiting his mother in Georgia this past Monday.  He brought home tons of blueberries, which left me thinking what I could use with what he brought us.  The girls have enjoyed them accompanying their entrees this week, but I thought hmmm, why not search for a fun, blueberry cocktail.  Well, it sure didn’t take me long.  The Kitchn is where I found this Thursday’s delightful concoction.  Enjoy!

The Blueberry Rum Smash makes 1 cocktail
Fresh (or frozen) blueberries
1 tablespoon brown sugar
3/4 ounce fresh-squeezed lemon juice
2 ounces rum
Ginger ale
Cover the bottom of an old-fashioned glass or mason jar with blueberries. (If you’re using a smaller glass, make a double layer.) Add the brown sugar and lemon juice and muddle (or smoosh with the back of a spoon) until the sugar is melted. The idea is to break the skins of the blueberries, but not to mash them into a pulp. Fill the glass with crushed ice and then add the rum. Top with ginger ale and stir.

Cheers, Y’all!

So clearly, I’ve been on a huge Baublebar kick, lately.  I just can’t help myself!  I mean I feel like they update the site everyday, with just as many gorgeous pieces as the day before.  I haven’t even received my necklace and bracelet that I ordered on Tuesday, and I’m already going back for more.  Here’s what I ordered today…

And I’m still loving this one too…
Guess I’m still on the turquoise and pink kick!  If you’ve never ordered from Baublebar before, click here, and you’ll get $10 off your first order, which makes the statement earrings above only $14!  And there’s always free shipping.

Okay, so how crazy is Scientology??  This was in this week’s US Weekly, in an article about Tom and Katie’s divorce.

I know I’ve been MIA about this week’s Bachelorette.  For some reason it didn’t record!!  But my mom and sisters said it’s hilarious, and even though I know who the final two are now (see above image, they’ve already battled it out once), they said I should still watch it.

I think the hubs and I are seriously the only ones who still watch this show, but c’mon, there’s seriously nothing else to watch in the summer, and it airs like three nights a week!

This image captures so much!  This is what I turn around to every time I’m in the car.  How lucky am I?  My sister snapped this photo, and I’m in LOVE with it!

Happy Thursday!
P.S.  I’ve had some emails from readers asking about my house, and if it’s still on the market.  Yes, my friends, it is…five months and counting…  I finally busted out the play kitchen, play food and kitchen accessories today, after a five month hiatus.  You would’ve thought it was Christmas in July for the girls.  Cheap thrills!

  1. Seriously about to have heart failure thinking I missed the bb 14 season premiere! 20 minutes to spare! Bauble bar, don't get me started- love. Precious babes and my house is in the market right now too and my kids toys are all on the attic. I'm the worst mom ever, I have slowly but surely been pulling them out. So, the next time we show it I will be in PANIC mode trying to get clean again 🙂

    1. I'm the same way! We started off putting them all away, and slowly, but surely, they're all starting to come back out (the summer is hard!). Instead of back to the attic before showings, I've been tossing them into closets instead. Oh well. Good luck on selling your house! Glad you read this before the premiere started!!

  2. Dear Ashley,

Have you heard about towne and reese yet? Emily Maynard wears this brand on the bachelorette, and it is cheaaaapppp!!!!! Just heard of it today and I am OBSESSED.

I also believe it is Charlotte based.
