Monday Manners: Simple Table Manners for Children

A little preview, from my cousin’s camera, from this past weekend.

While my children don’t have the best manners, I try and give them some simple tips to remember, each time they sit at the table (p.s. This is more for my four year-old, than my younger children, but even E (2 1/2) is picking up on these easy tips)!

Simple Table Manners for Children

1. Chew with your mouth closed.
2. Use a spoon/fork if possible, otherwise, you may use your fingers.
3. Do not play with your food.
4. Do not talk with food in your mouth.
5. Stay in your seat, until everyone has finished eating.

Is there anything else you remind your children to do, while eating at the table?

Do any of y’all wear Patagonia Baggies?

I wore them in college, because I found a couple of pairs in our sorority house “give away” basket.  But since then, I’ve grown out of them, and had forgotten all about them, until recently, when I was flipping through my latest Patagonia catalog.  Needless to say, after receiving them, I still love them, and have worn them for two days straight!  They are a little high waisted, but I roll the waist band down once.  I ordered the first pair through Patagonia, but I’m thinking my next pair will be ordered through Zappos, as they seem to have more in stock, and their free shipping and free returns can’t be beat!  The Nike Tempos are still my favorite for working-out, but if I’m in need of something simple and casual to throw on, I’m loving these.

Make sure and ‘Like’ Gretchen Scott, HERE.
I don’t know about you, but I’d love to win FIVE GS Tunics!  I named him Flipper!

And last, but not least…GO WEBB!

He married a family friend of ours, and we’re just so thrilled that he won the U.S. Open!!  Now every time he tees off, they’ll say, “Webb Simpson, winner of the 2012 US Open.”  Unbelievable, and what a finish!  If interested, read more HERE.

Hope y’all have a wonderful rest of your Monday!
Oh, and this past wedding weekend was a blast, in Greenville.  Can’t wait to show y’all photos on Wednesday.  If you’re familiar with Greenville (SC), W LOVED the Mice on Main Hunt!  We found all, but one!  She even took one home, as a souvenir.

  1. My dad and I were watching the open!!! Once Webb got close I started rooting for him! He seems like a great guy!! That's so fun that you know him!!!

  2. i just re-discovered my patagonia baggies yesterday when we were going to the whitewater center and i'm with you, it's love all over again!

  3. These are such great tips. Kids should definitely learn age-appropriate table manners; running wild through a restaurant (or around the dinner table) is really not appropriate.

  4. OMG! I didn't think they made baggies anymore! I had a pair of nile blue ones that I wore from middle school through college (so they were new 16 years ago!?!? yikes.) until they finally shredded on one leg and eventually ripped up the rear. Thank you for finding these!!! xoxox

It was a sad day when I had to say goodbye to an old friend. Thank you so much for finding them again! xoxox
