Since I’ve been blogging, over six years now, I’ve tried never to repeat a Thirsty Thursday cocktail recipe that often. Well, I’m sure back in my archives I’ve shared this recipe with you before, but I must share it again. It’s been my drink of choice this summer when we’re out and super simple to make at home too.
*By the way, went back and found the last time I shared it, back in February of 2015. Check out the post here. And actually the cocktail I shared then wasn’t even a true salty dog, it was a ginger one for Valentine’s Day.
The Salty Dog
1 tbsp. kosher salt
2 oz. fresh white grapefruit juice
2 oz. gin or vodka
1 (2″-wide) strip grapefruit peel
Rub grapefruit peel around rim of a glass; rim glass with salt.
Combine grapefruit juice and gin or vodka in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake and pour into rimmed glass; garnish with peel.
Doesn’t it sound refreshing?

Yesterday, Wheeler had her 8-year old well check-up. I’ve pretty much brought all the kids with me to every well check-up they’ve all had. Even when I was pregnant with each of my children, the others would come with me. They loved getting to help the doctor and hearing the baby’s heartbeat. Well, yesterday, I hadn’t anticipated the long wait time in the waiting room. I think I received the often heard “You’ve got your hands full” one too many times while I was there. But the kids had a blast with the Snapchat filters. I don’t have games on my phone for them, but we sure entertained ourselves with the app.
It’s hard to see in this pic that Effie took yesterday, but I just got these new sunglasses and LOVE them. They go with this dress so well (told you these dresses are my summer go-to). And my Kate Spade Tassel Crossbody is still on sale! I receive so many compliments on it when I’m out, even had a girlfriend get one in navy a few weeks ago and she still raves about it.
How great are my waves (and this filter – ha!)? Vaughn looks like a babydoll.
I FINALLY tried out my new Beachwaver Curling Iron that I scored during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and absolutely LOVE it! I took this home to Charlotte with me earlier this month, even took it with me to the beach last week, with every intention on trying it out, but just never found time. So yesterday, I finally used it. I’ll be honest though, when I first started trying it, I couldn’t get the hang of it and was getting frustrated. But once I figured it out, it was super easy. Can’t wait to use it again. My advice to you, is to try it without it turned on first, just to get used to how the button and curling motion works. Once you’re confident enough, then turn it on. Trust me, you don’t want to fry your hair, continuing to try one spot over and over, while it’s on.
The Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale – What’s All The Hype?
Some of you who are new to the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale are wondering what all the hype is about this sale. Well, let me tell you, if you’re a Lilly fan, you do not want to miss this sale.
