HELP!

I’m having technical difficulties posting on my too old, too over it, laptop, and NEED a new computer. I’ve got a 17″ HP, but I’m thinking I’m going to get a Mac this time, since I’ve got an iPad and will have an iPhone with my next smartphone purchase (still using a Crackberry for now). Opinions needed, please! Should I go with a 13″ or 17″? Mac Air or Mac Pro??

Thanks for your help!

Hope y’all are having a wonderful Sunday! The hubs is at the Panthers vs. Saints game today, with friends. I’m enjoying some pizza, watching the game while online shopping, and sipping a Sam Adams Oktoberfest, while the kiddos nap. Multi-tasking at its finest! 😉

  1. I love with a capital L my Macbook Pro. It's a 13" which is plenty big for me – my pals who do graphic design prefer a larger screen, but I prefer the portability of the 13". With a Macbook Air, I don't think there is a CD/DVD insert thing, so if your girls ever like to watch DVDs on your computer, I'm not sure they'd be able to with an Air. I also don't think Airs have an ethernet cable port, for wired high-speed internet. If you're completely wireless, though, that's not an issue! 🙂

I've never once regretted my MBP. I love the convenience of being able to pop into the Apple store whenever I have a problem and be able to actually talk to someone in person, rather than on the phone. Plus, if you live near an Apple store (or even a Best Buy) you could run in and check both out in person and compare! Good luck!

  2. I just had to retire my Sony VAIO laptop and ended up getting the 13" Mac Air. I have an iPhone, hubs has an iPad, etc so a Mac just seemed the most logical! The big difference I see in the Air/Pro (other than a bigger screen size) is that the Air doesn't have a CD rom. Everything has to be downloaded or transferred via external hard drive or jump stick. That didn't bother me enough to sway me to the Pro. I LOVE my Air! Happy computer shopping!!

  3. I have a 13" MacBook Pro and I absolutely love it. The only thing I didn't like about the Air when I was making my decision was the lack of a CD drive – I play enough DVDs and whatnot on my computer that that was a dealbreaker, but that's just a personal preference thing. Enjoy your new Mac, whatever you choose!

  4. Once you go Mac, you'll never go back! I am a 2 time mac owner and will never go back! I was able to convert my MIL and a couple friends. My husband on the other hand is a die hard PC guy. I have a mac book pro 15". I went with it because I do graphic design and wanted a bigger screen, but still comfortably portable. You'll be fine with any of the macs. Have fun shopping! 🙂 They are expensive, but I think of it as an investment. My last mac lasted 7 years and no viruses as opposed to hubby's 3 pc laptops. 🙂

  5. I would definitely go Pro! The 13" is perfect, and so easy to pop in your tote when you're going someplace and would like to get some work done. Like the comments above said, there isn't a CD Drive on the Air, but if you're positive you'll never need it, then that wouldn't really be an issue. Good luck!! XO

  6. I absolutely love my 13" Mac Pro. It is easy to carry around. I am sure the Max Airs are great, but they seem so thin and fragile, I would constantly be afraid that I would break it. A Mac takes a littleeee getting used to, but I won't go back!

  7. I love my 13" MBP! It's my second (first MB retired in August) and it's just amazing. I bought it instead of an Air due to the CD drive and storage capabilities, although I suppose you could always use an external hard drive. Good luck with your decision!

  8. LOVE my Mac Pro!!! I actually have used my cd/dvd drive from time to time to install things, let Mills watch a wiggles dvd on a trip, etc… and I have no complaints!! It's still way lighter than any other laptop I've had, and all around fabulous!

PS – blogging, pizza, adult beverages, and online shopping…all while the kiddos nap and the hubby isn't home?!? Now that's just impressive! I'm gonna need some tips from you when March rolls around, haha! 🙂

  9. I have had a MacBook Pro (13in) and it's now three years old and going STRONG! NEver had ANY problems with it and my 12 month old even pulled it off a table and hit the floor on it's corner and barely a dent — you'd never know it was dropped. it was worth EVERY penny spent!

  10. I have a MacBook (don't know if it's an air or pro) and I LOVE it. You can't go wrong with anything Apple.

I am upgrading my Droid (YUCK) on Friday to the new iPhone S (white and picked out a cute Kate Spade case). I can't wait. My name was the first on the list at our local Verizon store.

    Yay for Apple!

  11. When my old Dell laptop died in January I got a 13" Mac Book Pro. (Who knew it was such a popular choice?) Though it took a little getting used to – what, no right clicking? – now I LOVE it. It's a great size to just take along, and I've never found the screen too small. The battery life is phenomenal. I was just on 5 hour flight to Phonenix and arrived with battery to spare. Good luck!

  12. Love my Macbook Pro! Seriously the best gift I've ever gotten. I got the 17" right when they came out with the black outlined screen in 2008 and I love it. It has served me so well over the last few years. I did replace a hard drive.. and the lesson there is always back up your computer! But it's a great computer and you couldn't pay me to use a PC again.

    xoxo.

  13. When my PC died 2 years ago I got a 13" Macbook Pro and I LOVE it. I am beyond happy that I got it. It is easy to travel with and I really like having the disc drive. I have used it to install software, upload/download files from discs, burred music cd's for car rides, download pictures from my hard drive as a backups and watch dvd's. I just bought an iPad that I will probably travel with on weekend trips but for work/school I still like having the Mac to throw in my bag as well.
