Wild Dunes Staycation: Part One

My Dress // Sunnies // Earrings // Handbag // Bracelet // Girls’ Tops // Girls’ Shorts // Boys’ Polos

On Friday morning, we left for our staycation at Wild Dunes.  After lots of time being on the road the day before coming back from the lake, I know the kids were happy it was only about a 15 minute drive.  We’d planned on having a family tennis clinic that morning there, but there was a huge storm that blew through the night before and the courts weren’t playable.  Two houses were even struck by lightning out at Wild Dunes the evening prior.  So we’ll plan on coming back for tennis another time.  Instead, our first stop was Huey’s Southern Eats for lunch.

This dress is currently back in stock!

And these sunnies are on sale!

Cheers to the beginning of our staycation!

Vaughn was  HUGE fan of this orange soda!  Can you tell?

Bracelet

I got the Hubcap Mule and it was delicious!  Grapefruit Vodka // Gosling Ginger Beer // Lime // Giffard Pamplemousse // Soda

So many yummy choices!

We inhaled the hush puppies!

I got the griddled lowcountry grilled cheese and it was heavenly.  Homemade pimento cheese, fried green tomatoes and bacon.

Obsessed with these new earrings!  They’re super lightweight and a perfect size!  They come in lots of colors too.

After lunch, we had some down time to unpack and get ready for an afternoon at the pool!

The sweetest little surprise when we arrived!

After the pool, we headed to dinner at Billy G’s.  The kids had never played foosball and once they started, they never wanted to stop.  And all weekend, they kept asking when we’d get to play it again.

We loved this soft pretzel twist!

Our favorite dish by far was dessert!

A cast iron skillet chocolate chip cookie as the base topped with vanilla ice cream caramel, bananas, peanut butter sauce, whipped cream, chopped peanuts and candied bacon.  Yum!

And then back to foosball!

There’s always Bingo and a movie on Friday nights at the Village Plaza which is right when you walk out of Billy G’s, but the speaker wasn’t working so they unfortunately couldn’t play the movie this particular night.  Y’all, my dress is only $21!  Wearing a size small.  And how cute are the girls’ dresses?  Love the fit and all of the colors.  Kind of wish it came in my size!

But it was fine!  We ended up going to hear live music at the pool that plays from 7-10pm.

All in all a fabulous first day of our staycation!  I know it’s not far from home, but just being away from the house keeps me from feeling like I need to clean out, organize, do laundry, clean dishes and instead just RELAX!

Tomorrow, I’ll post about the rest of our trip at Wild Dunes!  Hope y’all have a great start to your week!  We have one more week until school starts and we’re still getting in more travel time before our schedule starts back.  I’m heading to St. Simons today and Savannah tonight through Wednesday, so if you have any suggestions of where to shop and eat send them my way!  Here are some suggestions so far…

Thanks for all the recs!  Can’t wait to visit!  The last time I was in Savannah was in college where Lanier’s fraternity had their Sweetheart Formal.  And before that, I was with my Girl Scout Troop visiting Juliette Gordon Low’s birthplace.  It’s been awhile!  Now, it’s just narrowing down the spots I’ll try and get to!
