What We’ve Been Up To

Sunnies // Top // Earrings

Always love when my sisters come to town!  Saltwater Cowboys was so much fun.  Love when they have live musicians.

Wheeler still looking so old with these sunnies she wears all the time lately.

Effie and my sister’s dog, Sully.

Fried Green Tomatoes – yes, please!

Shrimp and Grits goodness!

Lanier took the boys a day early up to their grandparents, so the girls and I had some all to ourselves.  Like baking cupcakes for breakfast!

Sweet Logan Bear, growing up much too fast.

Sometimes I want to do a fun braid, but don’t have the time.  On this particular day, I did.  Now if only I could do that to myself!

After dropping off the girls with their grandparents on Sunday, I was a little sad to be leaving them for a week.  That’s a long time.  On my way home, I spotted this double rainbow in Beaufort.  I love when God gives us signs.  Letting us know everything will be just fine.

A few nights ago, I headed over to my friend Krystine’s house for a dinner party hosted by Butcher and The Boar.  It’ll be located at the old Southerly location (across the parking lot from Starbucks on Coleman).  Opens in August.  And y’all, let me tell you, it’s going to be awesome!  If the food we tasted is any indication, I have a feeling we’ll be frequenting it a lot.

Wore this ring, this necklace as a bracelet and carried this clutch.

How amazing was the tablescape??  Out of the Garden did an awesome job!

You know I couldn’t leave without snuggling her little baby Crew a little bit.  He’s the sweetest!

Love every single of these ladies!

In all honesty, everything I tried I wanted even more.  This soup was out of this world delicious!  Shrimp, mango, jalapeno and roe.

Next up was this egg, burratta, pink peppercorn, asparagus and watercress dish.  Watch when you cut into the egg…

So good!

By far, my absolute favorite!  A soft lobster claw with gnocchi, peas, prosciutto and truffle.

The fourth course was a tasty scallop with crawfish, grits, mushrooms and cilantro.

The lamb was a close second to the gnocchi dish.  Cooked perfectly with cucumber, olives, orange and panko.

The second of the two meat dishes was this beef dish with parsnips, onions, mushrooms and demi.

And finally, for the surprise dessert!  It was a little bit of everything!  And it was pure heaven!  The perfect dish to conclude our meal!

Couldn’t have asked for better company and to have the food be just as good…well, that’s a pretty perfect evening to me.  Cannot wait for Butcher and The Boar to open its doors.  It will be a huge event space too.  There will be a patio section, as well as a garden area.  Here’s hoping Coleman’s road construction finishes up before it opens!

And a huge thank you to Krystine for being the most amazing hostess and for opening your doors to all of us!  For what I wore, I wore this dress.  Received so many compliments on it.  The straps don’t adjust in the back, but it didn’t bother me.  It’s got pockets and a great length.  I’m 5’6″.  For fit, it runs big.  Make sure and go down a size.  It’s currently 30% off with code: GETAWAY.

Cheers to Thursday, Y’all!

  1. Those two french braids? Perfection!! I am so jealous, because when I try to do that to MY girls’ hair, they look like they have either been through a tornado, or a rabid chihuahua rooted through their hair looking for a bone 🙂

  2. Ashley,
So very sorry to hear of your grandfather ‘s passing. I know he will be missed but you are so blessed to have kept him until age 93.
Is there anyway you might could tell me the source for the rattan chairs in the picture of you and Kristine Edwards on her porch? Been looking for some like those.
    Thanks!
Love your blog posts and children stories.
