Wednesday Whereabouts: Memorial Day Weekend

Last week, I picked up running again.  I wish I had time to do it everyday.  It is the best feeling!
Naturally, after a couple of runs, I realized I needed a new pair of running shoes.  These Nike Free 5.0s have been great so far!
Views on my run.
Essie Geranium proved to be the perfect red for the holiday weekend.
My boys are growing up way too fast.
My husband’s cousin, his wife and their two children came to stay with us for the weekend.  We had the best time, and getting the kids to bed each night was a cinch.  By the end of each day, they were wiped out!
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect.
My husband’s aunt made this cake.  Trust me, it tastes as good as it looks!

Here’s a little view into my world most days, with four kids at home.
On Memorial Day, we had some of my husband’s work friends over for a cook-out.

 Circo Rompers (only $8 each)
On Tuesday, the girls started a morning camp for the week, at their preschool.  They had the best time…from magicians and science wizards, to clowns and a puppet show, they were sad it had to end.
After a weekend of entertaining, I was happy to have a few mornings to clean and organize.  Loved tackling my fridge.  Thankfully, it’s now back to normal.
On Tuesday afternoon, we met the hubs for lunch.  The waitress said I made having four kids look like a cake walk.  Love getting those kinds of compliments.  But I must say, they were surprisingly very well-behaved that day, especially since we rarely eat-out.
E is always the first to get up after nap time, we always enjoying having some downtime outside…
…especially when the sprinkler is set up!
Gap Dress (I’m in love with this dress!)
I went ombre this week, and love the new hair color.  It’s subtle, but there are some pretty blonde pieces throughout, which I love!
Tory Burch Miller Thongs in Indian Ocean (these have sold out rather quickly, but Tory Burch came out with a similar blue in Evening Sky that I love just as much!)
Little V came with me to the salon.  The best baby!  Didn’t make a peep.
For as much as I love braiding the girls’ hair, buns are not my thing.  I think there are about fifty bobby pins in there!  They had their dress rehearsal this week, and photos in their costumes.  Can’t wait to see how the photos turned out!
I received J.Crew’s Pinch Mini-Emergency Kit this past weekend.  Here’s what all is inside.
It really is a great little case to toss in my diaper bag.  I threw in a couple more band-aids, and I think it really will come in handy (minus the breath drops, lip balm, hair spray and nail polish that I tossed).
This past weekend was a whirlwind, as usual, but so much fun!

  1. So many great things to say here! I LOVE RUNNING! First, you should use the app called Endomondo — it tracks your pace, your mileage & (biggest thing for me) it provides a feeling of security that if God-forbid something happened your last whereabouts are logged for your friends. Make sure you keep your profile private. It also allows you to get messages (PEPTALKS!) read to you WHILE YOU"RE RUNNING. Ah-mazing! If you set up an account I'd love it if you considered adding me (gmail is email address — kaye.sweetser). Next, I strongly suggest doing intervals once every two weeks. It's a SHORT workout but you'll really see improvements in your pace! It's like a miracle pace drug. I do 6-8 rounds of 45 seconds total all out sprint followed by 1:30 min walk/jog/recovery. I use a boxing timer app on my iphone to give the audio cue for each section of the interval. And finally, I looovveee that you're getting into fashion too because that is one of my fave parts! I am a hotmess of COLOR on my runs & think bright fun shoes is the fastest way (pun intended) to keep your motivation high. HAPPY RUNNING!

    1. Thank you for all of this!! Definitely going to get that app, and of course I'll add you, except you'll laugh, I'm the slowest runner known to man! But I'm loving the whole sprints thing you're talking about. I'm a huge sprinter…compared to slow runs, must be the athlete in – need to be fast! Thanks again, girl! Hope you have a great weekend!

    2. No such thing as a slow runner in my book! You're enjoy the scenery 🙂 I am about the most non-judgey runner in the world because for me it all about doing something special for oneself, mindset & family (in your case). I will never run as fast my as my beau (I'm pretty sure he's on a skateboard when he runs using endomondo) but I do rejoice in seeing how I've better myself. YAY for you! YAY for new Endo friends! YAY for weekend! PS – I'm running the Rock n Roll half this weekend in SD so if we're connected on Endo then please feel FREE to pep me during the gazzillion hours I will be running on Sunday hahaha

  2. I love LOVE your blog and follow you on Instagram! Enjoy your fashion finds because also a Tory and J crew lover! 🙂 Have a great weekend!
