Tequila Mockingbird + OOTDs Lately + Whitney Kreb Art

How tasty does this cocktail look?  It’s a favorite at Mex-1!  Sweet with a little spice.  This one actually took the Champion Title Belt at Charleston Taco Kick Competition!

Tequila Mockingbird

Berry Serrano Tequila

Fresh Lime Juice

Agave Nectar

Soda Water

Another recipe I wanted to share was suggested by SSP reader, Courtney.

Jalapeño Mezcal Margarita (found this specific recipe here)

How mezcal is different from tequila: When making Mezcal, the agave hearts, or pinas, are grilled over hot rocks before distilling – which gives it a more rich, smoky flavor.

Juice from 1 lemon
Juice form 1 lime
Juice from 1 small mandarin (optional)
3 ounces Mezcal
1 ½ ounce triple sec
1 teaspoon maple or agave syrup
4 slices jalapeno

Fill a shaker jalapeño and cilantro.  Muddle.

Add ice to ⅔ full.  Squeeze the lemon, lime, mandarin.

Add the Mescal and triple sec.

Shake well and either pour the entire contents, including the ice into two small salt rimmed glasses, or strain and serve up.

Note: If using other citrus instead of lime (like orange, mandarin or grapefruit) you will need less maple syrup.

Note: To make the salt rim, rub the rim of a glass with the used, squeezed lime half and dip into plate of salt.

Thanks for the rec, Courtney!  Can’t wait to try it soon!

Cheers!

Last week, my friend Caycee and I headed out around town.  This pic still cracks me up!  A group inside the restaurant dared us to do it for the pic.

Bin 152 has the BEST charcuterie boards!

Afterward, we headed over to Zero George.  And then enjoyed dinner at FIG.

My friend Whitney Kreb, second from the left has her artwork currently on display at Zero George (all available for purchase) until June 18th.  If you’re in town, you should definitely check it out.  I absolutely LOVE her work!

Marysia Reeves, owner and designer of Marysia Swim, my FAVORITE swimsuit designer, was in town last week hosting a sample sale.  It was so nice to finally meet her!

Sweet Treat Recipes

Over the break, we attended a friends’ cook-out and these treats were by far my favorite…

Chocolate Lasagna (Taylor used this recipe, found here) & Uncooked Banana Pudding (Katie used this recipe, found here)

Both were absolutely delicious!  One other favorite from that night, that I’ll be creating really soon, is this Frito Corn Salad.  So good!

Weather App Suggestions

Okay, so long story short, the weather app that comes on your iPhone told me one day last week that there was 0% chance of rain, and then it started pouring.  It didn’t last long, but I reached out to my readers and asked if anyone had suggestions for better weather apps.  I received so many responses and wanted to share them with you, in case you’re looking for a new one too…

AccuWeather

Dark Sky (SSP reader says it tells you 5 minutes before rain starts and how long it’ll rain)

Forecast.Weather.Gov (National Weather Service)

Storm Radar App

Weather Channel App

Weather Puppy

Who Wore It Better?

Y’all may remember this dress that I wore on Easter.

I’ve had a few of you email/comment, letting me know that Pippa Middleton just wore it on her honeymoon.  Of who wore it better?  I think we clearly know the answer to that.  Haha.

Happy Thursday, Y’all!

  1. I like RadarScope. You also have to try WTForecast. I can’t attest to how accurate it is, but it will make you laugh!

    1. Of course! I share what I love! I’m still thinking of snagging one of the ones on the mantle. Love your work!
