Happy Monday! How was everyone’s weekend? Are y’all ready for Thanksgiving this week? I cannot believe it’s already here, and next week will be the beginning of December! Wow. We celebrated E’s birthday this past weekend, and the weather couldn’t have been more beautiful! It was unseasonably warm, so we were able to celebrate outside. The kids played and partied. The hubs made jambalaya for the party, and many guests went back for seconds and thirds – definitely a good thing! I’ll be sure and post pictures of the event tomorrow.
For this week’s Southern food installment, I thought I’d go with Southern cobblers and cookies. And how appropriate, as many of us Southerners will be enjoying these delights, this Thursday, for Thanksgiving! Take a look at the list. Did I leave your favorite off the list? I could eat warm Apple Brown Betty with vanilla ice cream every single day. Yummo!
Cobblers
- Apple Brown Betty – a traditional colonial dessert
- Dewberry cobbler
- Peach cobbler
Cookies
- Tea cakes – similar to sugar cookies
- Butter pecan cookies
- Moravian spice cookies – especially in North Carolina and Virginia
Nothing more delish than a good cobbler! Looking forward to the b'day pictures tomorrow! Glad y'all had a great time! I recognize those polka dot balloons, did you get them from the Polka Dot Market? Too cute!
in college I learned how to make a really good cobbler you have no idea how excited I was.
