I hope everyone had a great weekend! This week is supposed to bring a lot of rain here, well-needed, but it still doesn’t do well with my mood. I thrive off of sunlight, who doesn’t? At least W will finally get to wear her new raincoat and galloshes. Maybe I’ll let her play in the rain this week too. I know she’ll love that. Like I said, it’s been a long time since we’ve had rain here…
So, what could be better than Southern cakes? All of these cakes are absolutely scrumptious! I have a major sweet tooth, and I could eat almost every single one of these…I must admit, there are a few of these that I’ve never heard of before, which makes me anxious to try them!
Are there any that you’ve never tried before, or any that I’ve left out? I’d love to know!

OK you must post pictiures of W. if she gets to play in the rain!!! ….
And after looking at these wonderful cakes .. I think I need to move to the south… that Red Velvet cake has me salivating!!!! XO HHL
Red velvet is my absolute favorite! My grandmother has an old recipe from her family, and it is absolutely delicious! I always look forward to her making it! I also love King Cake. My family always orders one from a local bakery for Mardi Gras, and it's so good! Hope you have a great day!
I love that wikipedia says that pound cakes "are considered a staple in the cuisine of the Southern United States".
Absolutely.
In fact, if I show up to a meal/party/reunion without our family's "OLD STALE CAKE", I'm just about asked to leave!
Perfect images for a rainy Monday morning here too! Mmmmmm, Red Velvet cake! 🙂
Don't forget Doberge:

Red velvet always makes me think of the armadillo cake groom's cake in Steel Magnolias! That was so icky and hilarious, but red velvet still remains my absolute favorite indulgence! Have tried the butter pecan cake but with a hubs that loves pecan pie, this may have to be on the list of must-tries! Thanks for making me drool this morning!
The red velvet cake in that picture looks beautiful!
And let us not forget Lady Baltimore cake…
I'm bookmarking this post, that way I have a good resource when I want to bring some Southern Hospitality to the Midwest!

Yum! That first cake has me drooling into my coffee!
So my diet started back this week and this post is totally unfair! I may have to "unfollow" you if you continue to post about delicious southern food. I love pound cake and coconut cake. Now, I'm gonna have to call momma and ask her to make me one. UGH!
Oh my that red velvet cake looks good!
Coconut and red velvet…mmmmmmm…two of my very foods. Southern food is the bomb diggity!
