Life Lately + Sticking With Resolutions

I seriously hope I can keep up with my New Year’s Resolutions all year long.  Why is it when even February hits most of of us have already forgotten them?  Trying to fit in some type of exercise each day has really been amazing for my energy level.  Throw in going to bed earlier and I’ve just felt so great!  I hope y’all are having the same kind of success.  But like I said, my challenge will be keeping up with it after January has come and gone.

If I’m working out, whether it’s barre, running or tennis, I’m probably going to be wearing this pairing – this sports bra with this tank.  Both are super comfortable and not too fitted.  I will say that if you’re over a C cup, I’d go for the Energy Sports Bra instead, for more support.  Both sports bras run small, so I go up a size.

All smiles!

Can we talk about how quickly my girls are growing??  It’s driving me crazy!  Haha.  It truly is bittersweet how quickly each stage passes.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we took the boat out over the weekend and had the BEST time.  Our regular beach spot was covered in an oyster bed.  Thankfully for the kids, they had water shoes and Natives, I didn’t.  My flip flops got stuck in the pluff mud and the bottoms of my feet got pretty torn up.  Note to Self: Order water shoes.  Anyone have any recommendations?  Oh yeah, and Nordstrom just picked up my new sunglasses.  Earlier I could only find them on random sites, but Nordstrom has them now too.  Love the grippers on the nose guard and on the ends.  Perfect for the boat, except I still need to get some croakies, just in case.  If you’re local, I got mine at Shades on Sullivan’s Island.  My Define Jacket in grey is still available too.  I went up a size for a little extra room.

Speaking of flip flops, many of you have asked why Tory Burch discontinued her nude flip flops.  She still carries them in black (also available here), but not nude.  The answer is I have absolutely no clue.  And nothing else compares, in my opinion.  They were just the right amount of cushion.

For now, I ordered these in rose gold.

Pluff Mud!

I had a few questions about this pic after I posted it earlier this week.  First, you can find my dress here and here.  It fits true to size.  A little swing, but I wouldn’t size down.  Second, yes, Effie’s Natives are the iridescent ones.  And I love that y’all loved Logan’s “Hulk” face.

Thanks for all the recs on preserving our boxwood wreath.  I’m definitely going to soak it to get it to last a little while longer, then plan on drying it out to use on our back door.

If you’re in town, head over to Zero George tonight between 5:30-7:30pm.  Liz and Clary of Hilliard Studio Method in Charlotte are hosting a free event.  RSVP here.  Liz Hilliard recently wrote a book called Be Powerful: Find Your Strength at Any Age, and I can’t wait to read it.  If you’re a longtime reader you’ll know that I worked the morning shift desk here for over a year and absolutely loved the work-outs!  I was honestly in the best shape of my life when I took their classes.  If you’ve never heard of it, Liz and Clary are a mother-daughter duo that started the work-out, a mix between pilates and barre.  Think of it as pilates/barre on steroids.  They have streaming videos too, if you’re interested in seeing what it’s all about.  And if you’re in Charlotte, hop into the studio sometime and try it out for yourself.

Have y’all heard anyone raving about Athleta’s new fabric their using on lots of their newest pieces called Powervita?  I’m kind of tempted to order something to see what all the hype it about.  Loving the high waist and stripes on these leggings.  So fun!

One of my tennis teams (all doubles) plays almost year-round, but my other team has shorter seasons.  My second team picks back up today and I can’t wait to get back to singles again!  We’ll see how it goes!  Hope these work-outs and running will pay off!

Happy Thursday, Y’all!

  1. My sister told me about the nude Tory Burch flip flops the other day and I had no idea! Love mine! I have a black pair too but wear the nude the most. Have had them over two years and they still look good. I did buy some nude Haviannas on my honeymoon in Turks last year and love them equally as much. I just had to toss my boxwood wreath from Trader Joes’s it was looking a little dried out. Have a good day!

  2. Best water shoes, hands down, the GH Bass Surfside Sneaker. LOVE, totally protect against oysters, and arent’ awkward once soaking wet.

  3. Your family is just beautiful!! Wheeler is looking so much older. She looks like she has grown taller! Did you think that the lenses on the sunglasses were dark enough for being on the water?
