How to Style Fall Hues in Warm Weather

Fall in the South can be a little tricky.  While most of us are dying to wear an extra layer, a light sweater, etc., it’s just simply too hot to wear that here, just yet.  With that being said, I generally try to incorporate more fall hues (navy, tan, dark green, purple…), yet still stick with softer, lighter fabrics.  Pieces that you can wear now, and then, when it finally does cool down in the next few months, you can layer a little jacket or cardigan over them and you’re all set.
Accent colors for fall can be included not only in clothes, but accessories and darker make-up tones too (think amber eyeshadow or a darker lipsticks).  I’ve been talking so much about my new tortoise shades I’m in love with and plan to wear them so much this upcoming fall season.  In fact, I got them in last week and have already worn them a lot.  And my new jewelry!  These were some pieces I featured on one of my most recent ‘Loving Lately’ posts, and just had to order them.  Whatever the season, this stackable ring (colors are selling out quickly) and this bracelet could be worn year round.  It’s a little too warm for me to wear closed-toe shoes just yet, these sandals are on sale (they fit true to size).
It doesn’t have to be extreme.  Even this week, I’ve started wearing this fuschia color lipstick (Publicist Matte) with my browns and navy outfits, over my usual bright pink.  It just pairs well with the ensembles better.
With school starting back and all of my girlfriends back in town, it’s been a fun week of celebrating birthdays and just getting to catch up again, face to face finally.  Phone calls and texting are perfect for keeping in touch when your life is busy, but nothing compares to actually hanging out in person.  It does take a little more work to make plans, but completely worth it!
One night, we headed out to Henrietta’s at the new The Dewberry Hotel.
Loved the oysters!
And since I didn’t post a Thirsty Thursday yesterday.  This is one to keep in mind!  The ‘One Before Supper’ is absolutely delicious!
How gorgeous is this wallpaper??
What I Wore
In keep with the Fall hues theme, love the colors of this blouse.  I have a feeling it’ll be worn a lot this upcoming season.   I absolutely love how soft and flowy it is.  The sleeves are great and airy.  Not that I wear anything too clingy anyway, but in this heat, anything a little billowy is perfect.  It’s true to size.  I’m wearing a 6.  A cute little jacket will go so well over it, when the weather cools.
I’ve been on the hunt for a great fitting, dark-colored pair of jeans.  And I finally found them!  Super comfortable with a little stretch.  Fit is true to size.
Y’all know I can’t say enough great things about these wedges.  I’ve had them since last summer and they continue to be my go-to pair.  Wore them two times just this week!  They’re true to size and on sale.
This is another classic I’ve had for about two years now.  This season’s style has been updated, but I honestly kind of like the newer style better with the chain added on the strap.
On Wednesday night, it was another girls’ night out!  I typically don’t like to do nights out back-to-back, but when you’re planning with a group, you make it work.

We tried out Little Jack’s and my favorite was definitely the chopped salad with shrimp.
What I Wore
Navy Swing Dress (love how breezy this one is; plan on tossing on a jacket over it in a few months) // Wedges and Crossbody (told y’all I love both of these!) // Ring // Bracelet // Sunglasses
This necklace is the perfect accent piece for fall!
A great neutral piece, that will go with almost everything in your closet this season.
Also love this long tank.  Comes in so many colors and priced just right at only $34!

The boys started school yesterday.  It’s a short day, only until 12, but they had the best time!
We celebrated afterward with big chunks of chocolate cake.  Logan’s favorite!
Speaking of Fall looks.  How sweet are all of these outfits on the kids?  The girls’ dresses are Mini Boden and the owl and squirrel are made out of sequins.  Logan’s wearing this little shirt and Vaughn’s wearing this tee.
