While perusing blogs through others’ blog rolls almost exactly a year ago, I clicked on one that gripped my heart strings (I don’t even think you know this, Kat). I had no idea who this person was, her blog name didn’t give her away, Southern Bourbon Mountains.  I knew she looked a little familiar from pictures, but I couldn’t quite place her.  After connecting more through Instagram, and realizing that one of her college best friends and my husband were fraternity brothers, we realized we should have met a long time ago!  What touched me so much, was this post.  Her young mother was diagnosed with early on-set Alzheimer’s.  Can you imagine?  As someone who is very connected with her mother, I cannot even imagine hearing such a diagnosis.  My late grandmother was diagnosed with dementia, and that was hard enough.  To read more about the disease, and my friend Kat’s struggles, as her mother battles this saddening disease, click here.
Please say a prayer that a cure for Alzheimer’s will come, sooner than later.
Love ya, Kat!
Hope y’all are having a wonderful weekend!

  1. I placed my first Baublebar order last week and one of the items I chose was the tortoise link necklace, and now here it is in your OOTD! Guess I chose well 🙂

  2. Do you remember my Mom, Ashley? She's been diagnosed with Early-onset Alzheimer's too. It's a horrible disease, especially when you're watching a loved one go through it. Even harder when a mother is so young…

  3. Love that J.crew factory polka dot popover- I just ordered one for myself last week when they had 40% off. Off to visit your friend's blog- my husband work in senior living housing so alzheimers is something he deals with on a regular basis and we always do the alzheimers walk in DC.
