Fashion Friday: Back to Running Again!

Nike Sports Bra // Zella ‘My Run Layer’ Half Zip Top // Nike Free 5.0 (these run true to size) // Zella Double Scoop Tank // Nike Tempo Shorts (still my all-time favorite run shorts) // Nike Hat // Yurbuds Armband (sold out, similar here)
Now that we’re pretty settled and moved in here, I’ve finally started back running.  And it feels so good.  When we first moved in, I was so unfamiliar with the area that I was wary about running, especially in the early morning hours.  Thankfully, our neighborhood is safe enough that I feel comfortable running in it.  It’s also big enough that I can knock out three miles and make it back to my house in a full circle, hitting small cul-de-sacs along the way.  So there’s no excuse for me not to get out and run.  The weather these last few mornings has been beautiful and actually pretty warm. The best!

Unlike my last active outfit post where I was wearing leggings and an insulated jacket, I’m now able to wear shorts again and I love it!  I am so much more comfortable in shorts than leggings.  It’s still pretty dark when I get out to run in the morning, but as I run the sun rises, so it doesn’t stay dark for too long.  I’ve also noticed there definitely aren’t as many street lights as my old neighborhood, so that attributes to the dim lit streets.   And with Daylight Savings Time coming this weekend, means it’ll probably be even darker on my runs now than before.

So when I was searching for new running gear, I wanted bright!  Not just because I love neon colors, but to be safer while I’m running.  I also purchased these two little LED blinking gadgets that I can attach to myself when I run.  I like the arm band the best.  You can strap it on your arm and place the light (or blinking light option) on the back of your arm.  That way it won’t bother you on your run, but cars and people can see you.  I’ve actually noticed other people in the neighborhood using these in the morning, so I was glad to find them so easily at Nordstrom.  They really aren’t too expensive either.  Just $20 for the Arm Band and $10 for the Clip-On Light.

Well you know how much I love my neon pink Nikes that I’ve been wearing for awhile now, but this neon yellow Zella Half-Zip Top is perfect!  I wonder if I glow in the dark when I wear it?  Ha.  It’s super bright and actually quite soft and comfortable too.  As always, all of my favorites can be found in one place, Nordstrom!  Hands down, best customer service out there!  And super easy FREE returns if something doesn’t work for you!

If you’ve been running, just started back or need some motivation, you can do it!  I really am so much happier during the day, if I know that I’ve knocked out a good run in the morning.  P. S. You don’t have to be fast, to be a good runner.  My pace is so slow right now, compared to what it used to be, but I’m okay with that.  The more I run, the faster I’ll get, and the more calories I’ll burn if I keep it up.  Get active!
Hope y’all have a wonderful weekend!  It’s freezing here today, but this weekend is supposed to bring warmer, sunnier weather.  I can’t wait!  One of my friends is coming into town with her littles, and I’m seriously counting down the hours until she gets here!
TGIF, Y’all!

Thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post.  As always, all opinions and outfit choices are my own.

  1. are you living in West Ashley? My mom's neighborhood looks just like yours, and I absolutely loved running there. Sidewalks, low speed limits, and no snow banks! Considering my CT address, it's going to be a long time before I get to run outside up here. 🙁 I'll have to look into those lights though, even for just walking the dog in the dark!

  2. Love the neon pink Nikes. I've been eyeing those for awhile. Hope that you get used to your new running location! I'm sure you're glad you don't have to wear leggings anymore!

  3. Love the neon green top! It's also nice to see the palms in the background, SO different than my view here in Minnesota 🙂
