If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that Lanier and I celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary this past Thursday, June 26th. We started dating sixteen years ago, which is even harder to believe. We’ve definitely made this week for us. Lots of time together catching up, talking about what our future holds and relaxing, just us two.
This weekend we’re in the mountains spending time with friends, which we don’t do as often as we used to. Here’s hoping that in the future we’ll make more of an effort to spend more time together. Every family needs it. While it’s sad to leave the children for a little while, it’s good for us and believe it or not, them too. It’s good for them to miss us, knowing we’ll be back so soon. It’s good for them to see their parents share time together. They may not understand as much now, but my hope is that we convey to them how important it is to love and show love, so that they know what it looks like…and can share that same love now, and as they grow older. Gosh, don’t want to think about them aging at all…but they already are, and way. too. fast.
All in all, cherish even the smallest moments, and live each day to the fullest.
Okay, had no idea I was going to write all of that, but I just went with it.
Deep Saturday thoughts for you I’m sure. Ha!
On Wednesday night, Lanier and I went to the minor league baseball game here in town. We had so much fun! He invited many of his co-workers and it was so nice to finally meet each of them, when I didn’t have the children running around at my feet. He really does work with such a great, friendly group of people!
My arm candy for the game.
LOVE this top – it was perfect to wear to the game. Nice, cool and airy! It’s lined too, so I didn’t have to worry about it being see-through. For fit, I’m a 4/6 and got a 4 in it. Earrings // Sunglasses
Maybe it was the occasion, but Lanier isn’t usually a big fan of photos. Glad he’s been a good sport about this week!
Heading out to our anniversary dinner. Don’t you love our prom pose? Lanier’s mom was taking the pic and couldn’t figure out where the big white circle was to snap a photo. Needless to say I think we “cheesed” like this for five minutes! After dinner we went and heard Woody Pines play. Great show!
Forever grateful for the Lord bringing him into my life.
What I wrote on Instagram on Thursday pretty much sums it up:
“He’s always shown me love, laughter, made me so incredibly happy and gave me four beautiful blessings that I will be forever grateful for. Today marks our 10 year wedding anniversary. What a wild ride it’s been – first a dog, then four kids! All I can say is it’s only made us stronger and closer than we will ever know. Can’t imagine what the next ten, twenty, thirty! will bring, but one thing’s for sure – I’m excited about it and wouldn’t want to share it with anyone else buy my soul male!”
Thank you to each and every one of you who took the time to write a sweet congratulations to us! You really made this week extra special!!
Hope y’all are enjoying your weekend!
Enjoy your trip to the mountains! I think it's great y'all are getting away without your sweet kids for a while….my parents always took vacations by themselves growing up, and although when I was younger I never really understand, looking back I am so thankful they did. I think by them doing that, it made their relationship so much stronger, which definitely helped my brother and I to see what true love in a relationship looks like. Enjoy your special time together!
Happy Anniversary! You two are adorable.
