Wednesday Whereabouts

Last week, I was lucky enough to chaperone a field trip with Effie’s class to Boone Hall Plantation.  Whether you’re local or not, you MUST visit!  We’ve been here many times, but I’ve never taken an official tour of the grounds.

The students got to try and pick out the cotton seeds.

The oaks on the “Avenue of Oaks” is always just break taking.

The best part of the whole day was listening to a Gullah performance.  Her presentation was amazing!  From her gift of story-telling to a voice that carried over all the grounds, she gave me chills!  Let’s just say she spoke for about an hour and every single student on that field trip was all ears.

Effie even had a little fun volunteering on stage.

Meeting a new friend.

Scenes from The Notebook were filmed here.

We got to meet sweet Mary Bostwick, who made the prettiest sweetgrass baskets and decorations!

The sweetest ornament…complete with tiny jingle bells.

I couldn’t resist taking a few home with us.

Such a fun day!  It sprinkled on and off during the day, but thankfully it didn’t pour.  I obviously went for something comfy that day and this camo top was perfect.  It’s long enough to wear with leggings (currently 40% off with code: SNUGGLE) too and ships for free.  Also available here.  For fit, I’m wearing a medium.  Wanted it to fit a little longer, so I sized up.

This past weekend we headed out with friends to The Pour House.  This was our first time here, but definitely won’t be our last.  Such a cool venue to watch bands!

Got to wear my new jacket out for the first time!

If you’re familiar with the Highwater Festival that happens every spring here in Charleston, then you’ll know that the band, Shovels and Rope hosts it.

Michael and Carry Ann are a husband/wife duo and I love their music.  Was so great seeing them on Friday night!  All of us, including the kids, claim their song Birmingham as one of our faves.

Clearly, it was a great night!

…and even better when your kids insist on bringing you breakfast in bed the next morning.  They made this waffle from scratch.  I take no credit in teaching them…it’s ALL Lanier.

A beautiful sunset on Saturday night.

The sweetest buddies.

Our Tarheels couldn’t pull out a win on Saturday, but we were still dressed in our Carolina blue…with a hint of Clemson orange. 😉

Weather couldn’t have been more perfect on Sunday!

Effie proclaimed Sunday as the “best day ever” and told me at bedtime that she wished it would start over again.  I guess attending two birthday parties in one day was pretty awesome.  With the birthday girl!

Best Friends. Effie’s wearing this top (on major sale) and Wheeler’s wearing this one (on sale too).  Wheeler’s shorts are from here, and on sale.  And still going strong with the bows!

We couldn’t wait to get over to our friend Frances’ birthday party!  They’ve always had a special bond.

Got the tree decorated!  This year we only managed to shatter two.  I think that’s a record!

Tacky as ever, but so very special!

I picked up this tennis bag on Black Friday.  The little tennis ball key fob comes with it!  Love it so far!  And it’s still on sale!

Sweet Effie in her new nightgown.  She said she felt like Clara from The Nutcracker.  I couldn’t find this exact one online, but if you’re local, I got it at Southern Belles.  I found the same style in a similar sweet print here.

And how sweet is this guy??  Effie clearly LOVES him!  You can find this one at Southern Belles too, and online here.

If you’re looking for the BEST Christmas gift to give a child, this book is it!  In celebration on #GivingTuesday yesterday, I shared this little book with a BIG mission.  Because giving a little can do a lot.  The Giving Crusade hopes to inspire children to volunteer, be kind and make a difference in the world.  What a message and my four loved it!  Gift this book to someone you love, so they can learn that giving a little can do a lot!  Get your copy here.

I hope y’all are having a great week so far!

Happy Wednesday!

In case you missed yesterday’s post, I shared my ‘Top 10 Holiday Dress Faves’.
