Spring Break: First Stop – Carowinds

As I mentioned last week, this was our first year in many years that we didn’t travel to Florida for Spring Break.  Lanier decided to save some vacation days for more summer vacation time.  But we made the most of it and had a blast!  Carowinds isn’t usually open on weekdays this time of year, but this was their “Spring Break Week” so it was open midweek.

The weather was beautiful and we had a blast!

I can’t believe this ride is still here!  There were rumors it was getting taken down.  I can still remember when I rode it with my late grandmother and she broke a few ribs.  Eek.

Copperhead Strike is a favorite mine and Wheeler’s.

Aeronautica is a new area that just opened up a few days before we visited.  It’s really neat with five new rides.

Their food is always so good!

One of my sisters lives close to Carowinds so she met us that afternoon, after her girls got out of school.

Can’t tell you how many times the boys rode on the Goldrusher…

…and the swings.  They also loved the Scrambler.

Logan riding on Logan.

Such a fun day!  We were there from 10-7 and ended it with funnel cake.

We love Carowinds so much and can’t wait to go again soon!  Growing up in Charlotte, I had season passes and went often.  It’s crazy to see how things have changed.  The kids love hearing about the old rides that used to be there – the ferry to Smurf Village, Friendzoid, Thunder Road, White Water Falls, White Lightning…I’m sure there are more that I’m forgetting.
