After leaving Mount Desert Island, we headed toward Boston and were searching for a yummy lunch spot. We read some great reviews about Fat Boy and absolutely loved the food. It definitely hit the spot. The friendliest and fastest service too!
We stayed near the seaport in Boston at The Renaissance Hotel, the hotel behind Vaughn.
It was raining when we got into Boston, so we had a little snack at the hotel and decided our plans.
It continued to be off and on rain for a little while, but we decided to start walking toward The Freedom Trail so the kids could see some of that. Lanier and I have done it before, but knew the kids would enjoy seeing the history. As we were walking, I noticed some guys wearing Boston Red Sox gear. I mentioned to Lanier that they may have a home game. He looked it up and said they did. At the last minute, we decided to scratch our Freedom Trail plans and go to the game. Lanier found tickets on StubHub for $25 a piece and we honestly didn’t know what we were getting ourselves into.
I mean, clearly I wasn’t ready to go to a baseball game. No red or blue in sight. I also had to remind the kids that we are serious Braves fans and I really wanted their first MLB game to be at Truist Park, but this was an awesome opportunity. And Fenway is just so nostalgic. I was excited for the kids to experience it.
So the craziest thing about the colors I wore…unbeknownst to me at the time, I walked in and was wearing the EXACT colors the Red Sox players were wearing at the game. We couldn’t believe it! They were wearing the Boston Marathon colors and I matched them exactly. Still can’t figure out those odds.
The rain passed and it was truly the perfect night for baseball.
I don’t think we could’ve picked better seats.
We ate all the things and loved how efficient everything was. The lines moved quickly and everyone was so friendly.
We left the next morning for New York, but all I can say is the short amount of time we spent in Boston was well worth the trip!
To make the evening even sweeter, we got to watch a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 9th inning…even hitting the foul pole in left field. Red Sox Win!
