I can’t believe that the girls will be back to school in exactly two weeks. The boys start preschool right after Labor Day. Summer has flown by, but I guess it goes without saying, “time flies when you’re having fun.” Over the past few weeks, I’ve been stocking up during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, from everything to women’s clothing and home to men’s clothing and kids’ clothing. I think it’s fair to say, it’s so much easier ordering clothes for my four, rather than taking them all into a store somewhere. As always, I find that the best place to order a range of pieces, rooted in quality and comfort is Nordstrom. They carry my favorite brands for the kids like Mini Boden, Lilly Pulitzer and Tucker + Tate.
If it were up to the girls, they’d wear Lilly Pulitzer shift dresses every single day. They’re so colorful, but they especially love how easy they are to throw on. I always order a size up, to let them have more wear out of their dresses. This tropical print and this coral trunk print are two of Lilly’s latest prints. I loved the tropical one so much that I picked up something in the print, as well.
As for their shoes, Wheeler has been telling me for the past few months that she’s been wanting a pair of pink “hike ups” as she first referred to them. I’ve since corrected her that they’re called “high-tops”, but she absolutely loves her new pink shoes. I was a little wary at first because they’re a little tricky to get on, but she says she doesn’t care and tells me she can run faster and jump higher with them on. And just like any younger sister would do, Effie wanted to be just like Wheeler and insisted on her own pair. I got her the low-tops version (Bonus! Effie’s orange pair is part of the Anniversary Sale!).
Yesterday, we celebrated my grandfather’s 90th birthday. All of his children, grandchildren and children were able to attend the party, which made it even more special.
My sisters and I were all able to make it! It’s so rare these days that we’re all able to get together all at once, but when it happens, you better believe we take a ton of pictures. From left to right: 4, 5, 2, 1, 3, 6 (9.5 years from oldest (me) to youngest)
Vaughn’s madras shorts have sold out, but I love this reversible pair. Paired here with this polo shirt and these shoes. These shoes have been my favorites of the summer! The children have worn them almost every single day!
On our way back, my parents (Gigi and Grandaddy to the kids) and I stopped at the airport and watched planes take off and land. The kids loved it!
I’ll share more pics from his birthday on this week’s Wednesday Whereabouts post. Today, it’s all about kids’ clothing and shoes, and my favorites for back-to-school.
Eating my grandfather’s famous cheese straws.
I got Logan this striped tee and he loves it so much. So much that he wanted to wear it to bed last night too. I convinced him to change into his pajamas, and promised that I’d wash it and he could wear it again today. Similar khaki shorts here.
Logan’s been really into sharks lately, so when I saw these rainboots (now $33 and $45 after the sale) during the anniversary sale, I knew I wanted to order them. These Tucker + Tate shark socks have sold out, but this white 6-pack is only $11.90 during the sale. Logan’s birthday is next month, and I know he’ll get the biggest kick out of both of these. He and Vaughn both have a pair of Hunter boots which I love too, but Logan is about to grow out of his.
Tucker + Tate always mark a set of their boys trunks down during the Anniversary Sale. The boys laughed at this year’s set with the bacon and eggs print.

As far as backpacks go, how cute is this little popsicle one? Only $15 during the sale!
And I’m dying over this one with all the little Boozers all over it.
The girls would absolutely love this lunchbox!
Logan’s been asking for a new pair of sunglasses. I got him these Babiators with stars on the side. We’ll see how long he decides to keep them on.
As I always say, one of the main reasons I shop Nordstrom for kidswear (in addition to the awesome brands they carry) is that it’s super easy to return items you don’t want, and it’s free. Many times I’ll order two sizes of something, let them try both on, and return the size that doesn’t fit. This is also the last week of the anniversary sale, so if you’re looking for great markdowns, now’s the time to stock up. Don’t put it off. We’re headed to the beach the week before school starts, so there’s no way I can put it off. My goal is to get everything organized and ready for school this week.
I hope y’all have a great start to your week! It’s hard to believe it’s the first day of August!
**Thanks to Nordstrom for their partnership on this post.**
