Wednesday Whereabouts: Thomas Rhett & Old Dominion

Well, what an amazing weekend it was!  My favorite part was meeting Thomas Rhett!  Such a sweetheart, completely loving life…not to mention an awesome songwriter and performer!

One of my besties and I gave each other tickets to two concerts for our birthdays.  Thomas Rhett and Old Dominion have been on the Home Team Tour for awhile now, so we thought it would be just one concert.  But instead, Old Dominion played in Augusta on Thursday night and came down to Columbia the next night.

So we ended up making it two days of fun!  Thursday night, Thomas Rhett played in Charleston so I was able to get kids off to school on Friday before heading to Columbia for the Old Dominion concert.

Before the show, we were lucky enough to watch him perform an acoustic performance of some of his songs.  Very, very cool.

And we of course had some fun too!

Walker Hayes started off the night.  FYI – he’s a fellow Tarheel.  His songs “Beautiful” and “You Broke Up With Me” may be ones you’ve heard if you’re into new country.

Dan + Shay played next.

And then came Thomas Rhett.  An amazing performance I’ll never forget!

What I Wore

Top // Cutoff // Clutch // Boots (these are old Frye ones that I scored during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale a few years ago; I scoured the web trying to find somewhere they’re still available and I found them still available here; for fit, I’m an 8.5 and wear a 7.5 in these. I fell last weekend, so these shorter boots actually worked best because the taller ones I have would’ve rubbed my knee.)

Brought this faux suede jacket with me if it got too cold.  It fits so well and is so buttery smooth for faux suede.  I’m playing on wearing this one a lot this season.  Love it!

The next night in Columbia I wore this peplum tank.  I have no doubt  this one will be worn over and over.  A true go-to classic black tank.  It’ll be great for layering too.  It also dips down a little in the back, to cover my rear.  Paired it with this black rice beads necklace worn as a bracelet and this ring that I’ve seriously been wearing all the time recently.

I opted for flip flops on Friday night, since my feet took a beating on Thursday night in my boots.  Note to self: wear socks next time.  Lindsey wore my boots (with socks) and had no problems with blisters.

Haha! Love this shot!  Matthew, the lead singer of Old Dominion, was having the best time!  If you haven’t heard of them, they used to be full-time songwriters and have written songs for Sam Hunt, Dierks Bentley, Kenny Chesney, etc.  But about two years ago, they decided to make a band themselves and are loving every minute of it.  Such an awesome band that write the best songs!  Can’t get enough.

The children’s’ school put on a fundraiser called “Crustaceans for Education” and sold lobsters to raise money for their school and everyone picked them up on Saturday afternoon.  I know a few groups that did the same as us and had lobster parties that evening.  We had 21 in our group.  They were absolutely delicious!  Wheeler and Effie each finished off a whole one by themselves.

Vaughn is always mesmerized by the lobsters in the tank at our local grocery store.  Imagine his surprise when he got to hold a real one.  He kept asking us, “is it real?”

So good!

Here’s a better pic of the jacket I mentioned earlier.  So good!  And a fabulous price too!

Aren’t these the cutest polka dot pjs?  I was more than happy to snuggle in them on Sunday morning after a busy, but fun, few days!

In case you missed yesterday’s post, I shared my love for leopard this season!  These slides couldn’t be left out!  Super comfortable and a great all-around fit.  For fit, they’re true to size.  Head back here to check out the full post.

Hope y’all are having a great week so far!

Happy Wednesday!

  1. Small world! Our son and daughter-in-law were backstage at that Old Dominion concert. A friend of theirs is the band videographer. They said it was incredible and the guys were so nice.

  2. What fun! I have those boots, too, and I will say, I definitely wear socks and try to not wear them when I know I’ll be walking a ton. But they are just SO cute!
