Wednesday Whereabouts + A Day Date at Wild Dunes

We lucked out with another week of awesome weather!  It cooled down a little on Friday and Saturday, enough that we couldn’t swim, but not enough to enjoy the outdoors.  Thankfully, by Sunday for Mother’s Day, the weather was hot and beautiful!

For Cinco de Mayo, some friends and I headed over to Taco Mamacita on Sullivan’s Island.  If you ever visit, their margaritas are amazing! // Sunnies
We also played at a friend’s house.  The kids did NOT want to leave!
Seriously though, can I have her hair?  // Her flamingo swimsuit is on sale, only $18 with code: YAYMAY.  She’s a 7/8 and wearing a small.

On Saturday, Lanier and I headed out for a day date over at Wild Dunes.  We started the day off with a tennis lesson.  This was so nostalgic, as I used to take lessons here when my family used to vacation here growing up.  I think I mentioned this on last week’s Wednesday Whereabouts post here, but Wild Dunes was recently bumped from #3 to #2 in the world on tennisresortsonline.com!  Pretty cool!
Afterward, we headed to the Boardwalk Inn right across the street for lunch.
The new Coastal Provisions restaurant was exactly what we needed after working up an appetite after tennis.  I’ll have to admit though, we should’ve brought our bathing suits, as it’s situated right beside the pool.

Brought along my new Kate Spade White Hemsley Crossbody that I’ve been LOVING lately!  It’s larger than your average crossbody, and holds so much more stuff.  I especially love the front pocket, where I can easily tuck away my cell phone at a moment’s notice.

While food obviously comes first when I’m deciding whether I love a good restaurant, a close second is the atmosphere.  We had a beautiful view and our server was very prompt and friendly.  We also didn’t have to wait to be seated, even for as busy as it was on a Saturday afternoon.

Now on to the food, oh the food.  We started off with cocktails – I ordered a seabreeze and Lanier ordered a greyhound.  Both were very refreshing, with a ceviche and wedge salad (topped with crab) appetizer to start.  We wanted something cold, tasty and crisp, and that was exactly what we were served.
Next, Lanier and I both ordered the fried oyster po’boy.  Honestly, I’m still thinking about how delicious it was as I type.  We’re hoping to visit again soon, and plan on ordering the exact same thing…except next time we’ll make sure and leave some time for swimming.
We walked out to the pavilion after lunch.  I was so full, but in a good way.  The bar and both pools on the deck were bumbling with people having a great time enjoying their relaxing Saturday.  Wish we could’ve stayed all day!
So Wild Dunes just finished renovating their Links Course.  I was anxious to see their new renovations, as I grew up staying with my family at a condo overlooking the 18th hole.
I knew sometime back that the hole I remember had been washed over by the sea, and what used to be the 18th Hole (Par 5), was now the 18th Hole (Par 3), but I still wanted to see it.  The clubhouse was kind enough to let us borrow a golf cart, and we took it around the course, checking out the new upgrades. Crazy that the hole really is a place where people just walk over to get to and from the beach now.
A view of the updated 18th hole, now a par 3.  Still a beautiful view, right on the ocean.
But what I noticed most, other than the beautiful greens and fairways, were the cart paths.  They were noticeably smoother and very new and white.  When we dropped off the cart, the pro confirmed my notion that the paths had just been overhauled, adding it was costly but extremely worth it.
While it was such a fun day date, we had to make sure we timed it right to get back and watch the Kentucky Derby and grill out with the kids.
Once we got back, the kids were wiped out from playing outside, that we spent the majority of the afternoon watching a movie and just relaxing.  When we watched the Derby, we all picked different horses to cheer on.  Of all the horses we chose, Wheeler picked the one that came in third, but the rest of us didn’t have much luck.
Did I mention I love her hair?  I’m in the process of teaching her how to do a French braid – she’s been begging me to teach her.  I’ll have to get a photo of how she’s fixed mine lately – she’s a quick learner!
I received so many handmade gifts for Mother’s Day.  This was just one of my many favorites!
My sweet babies, taken two years ago.  They grow up too fast!

My kind of breakfast in bed. // Anchor Sheets (on major sale!)
Lanier gifted me these goldbug pearl studs from Croghan’s.  Cannot wait to wear them soon!
That day we went on a boat ride for the first time this year.  The kids had a blast on the beach and loved playing in the water.  Here’s hoping we get to go again soon!
Yesterday, Vaughn and I had our morning together while the others were in school.  Next Tuesday will be our last one, before the boys are through with preschool for the school year.  I’ll sure miss our morning playdates together!  While we usually visit the aquarium, museum, etc. I decided to take just Vaughn to the pool.  It was sunny and warm, and we loved swimming and having some one-on-one time.

After school, as promised, we headed back to the pool with the rest of the kiddos.  In keeping with my pineapple theme from yesterday’s post, I had to show off our new float!  One float vs. four kids who ALL wanted to use it was a lesson in sharing.  But thankfully by the end of the day, they all learned how to take turns.

We obviously can’t get enough!
I was perusing J.Crew’s latest arrivals and absolutely love this swim cover-up maxi!

Hope y’all are having a great week so far!
