Tuesday Trends: A Versatile Holiday Dress

Okay, don’t mind my goofy poses on those last pics.  My sister was taking these pics and asked me to pretend like I was walking.  I’m such an amateur, but definitely amusing, right?  I know it’s hard to believe, but the holiday season will be here before you know it!  I mean November 1st is this Saturday!  How cute would this Tory Burch Cora Dress be as a dress to wear for Thanksgiving dinner or to a holiday party in December?
If you’re a long-time SSP follower, you’ll know that I don’t wear dresses that often.  Church and formal events are about the extent of my dress-wearing.  An occasional fun dress here and there, but it has to be super comfy and must fit well.  With young children, it’s just so much easier to wear pants and shorts.  That way I can get on the floor or bend down and don’t have to keep adjusting my hemline.  But I must say I do love this dress.  It’s so comfortable and it fits just right.  For sizing, I’m a 4/6 and went with a 4.  I’m 5’6″ and the length is perfect too.  For as much as I loved the fabric and equestrian theme of my Meg Top, I knew this one would be just as perfect!  And the dress is not see-through at all, with a great weight to it.
I realize that this dress is a bit of a splurge, but don’t we all want that perfect holiday dress, being that it’s a special occasion?  And I know it doesn’t obviously scream holiday, but that’s what I love about it.  While I was shopping online at Nordstrom, I just kept coming back to this one.  I plan on wearing it during the holidays, and on after the holidays have ended.  To dress it up even more, consider a bright bold red lip, like this one (one of my ultimate favorites) or a cool red clutch for a pop of holiday color.  Now don’t get me wrong, I do love red dresses, especially around the holidays, but I just love the neutrality of this one.  So many options to dress it up with fun red accessories.

As it gets colder, I’d love to pair it with a bright pop of red, like this quilted jacket during the holidays.  I know I’ll also be pairing mine with tall black boots too.  Check out Nordstrom’s wide selection of them here.
And I love this look with a long sweater over it, to wear even after the holidays.  Such a cool, versatile dress!
If you’re still wanting to go for more of the red holiday route, I’d choose this one.  The prettiest shade of red, and a great shape.  Imagine a statement necklace like this one to pair with it.  And if you’re looking for a major statement, check out this conversation starter created by Alexis Bittar.
Or if green is your thing, how fabulous is this minaudière?
And this green and blue Trina Turk number looks pretty awesome too.
Like I said, it may be a little early to consider shopping for the holidays, but now is the time while there’s a wide selection available.  The “most wonderful time of the year” will be here before you know it!
Other pretty dresses with various price points, that would be perfect for the holidays.  All available at Nordstrom, and remember, always free shipping and free returns.

Happy Tuesday, Y’all!

A big thanks to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post!
