Thirsty Thursday: The Strawberry Mojito

Now that strawberries are in season, I thought I’d go with a fun, yummy strawberry cocktail this week for Thirsty Thursday.  We brought back a ton of strawberries from Georgia, so I’ve been looking for different ways to incorporate them into food and drinks!  I found this one from White on Rice.  This cocktail would be perfect for Pink and Green Thursday, as well.

Strawberry Mojito Cocktail Recipe
adapted from The Berry Bible
  • 1.5 ounces of simple syrup
  • about 3 fresh strawberries
  • about 4-5 fresh spearmint sprigs (chopped if you prefer smaller mint pieces in your cocktail)
  • soda water
  • 1/2 lime
  • 2 ounces of light rum

1. In a chilled glass (about 10-12 ounces), muddle the simple syrup, strawberries and mint leaves together with the back of a spoon or muddler. Crush the strawberries and mint leaves well.
2. Squeeze the juice from the lime into the glass, add the rum and stir well. Fill glass with ice and top off with soda water.
3. Garnish with mint sprigs or strawberry slices. Makes 1 drink.

I’d love to be sipping this cocktail, while reading this…

It has just been finished, and there’s a foreword by Lilly Pulitzer herself.  Available for preorder now, it doesn’t come out until October 4th, so I’ll have to wait a little while before I can sip and read.  If you pre-order it from Amazon, it qualifies for free shipping.

And wearing this, poolside…

I know many of you have recently joined Rue La La, and have $20 credit to use before May 25th,
or even if you don’t, this great maxi retails for $98, and is on sale for $59.90. Love it.
Or what about this great Letarte Starfish cover-up?
Retails for $265, selling on RLL today for $79.90.

Did anyone catch Gossip Girl on Monday night?  Just as amazing as ever.  I absolutely loved Serena’s black Marchesa dress she was wearing for the photo shoot.  Simply stunning.  The wrap is by Spazooie.  Also, loved the scene where the new girl/cousin, Charlie, sprays on the Chanel No. 5 and tries on the nude Christian Loubs.  Sigh.  And now she gets to live in Serena’s old room.  We’ll see what kind of problems she brings into the mix…can’t wait!

While perusing GG images, I came across this one…

Look who’s sporting a Rachel Leigh Audrey bow bracelet, from an episode earlier this season.
Happy Sipping, Y’all!

  1. Loved GG on Monday. Honestly I wish I lived the life of an upper east sider. Chuck needs to get his act together – I miss Chuck and Blair however I definitely do not hate Dan & Blair.

    xo

  2. One mojito coming up! I just read though the list, and I have all the ingredients! Seriously going to make it NOW. It's 5 o'clock somewhere, right? (Just 9 more minutes here!)

  3. Hi There,
Found another fashion mommy which is great.
    Your kids are soo cute.
My kids' ages are similar to yours. I have a 3.5 yr old son, and a 2 yr old daughter.
Love that maxi dress and the mojito looks so pretty. Although I favor sour vs. sweet drinks but love to learn to make new cocktails.
Saw the books you had read. Jane Eyre is my all time favorite!
