Thirsty Thursday: The Brown Derby

With the Kentucky Derby being this weekend, along with Cinco de Mayo on Sunday, I thought I’d bring you two cocktails for the weekend.  The Cinco de Mayo cocktail will be featured on tomorrow’s post.  Today, I bring you the Brown Derby (I found it in a 2009 LA Times article).

1 ounce Woodford Reserve bourbon
1 ounce grapefruit juice
½ ounce clover-honey syrup (1 part water, 1 part clover honey)
In tin-on-tin shaker, add freshly squeezed grapefruit, then honey and bourbon.
Shake and strain into chilled cocktail glass (ideally, a 5 ½-ounce Champagne coupe).

The girls and I attended a princess tea party that their ballet studio at the Y hosted, this past Saturday.  To say they had a blast is an understatement.
And the girls who played the princesses were the sweetest.
I’m not a huge fan of samples, because I stay true to what I always enjoy.
But Marc Jacobs Daisy and Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb came with my Nordstrom package the other day, and I couldn’t be happier.
Flowerbomb is one of my favorite daytime scents!
As you know I hit up the Tory Burch sale this past weekend, but I wanted to share this ensemble with you.  The J.Crew Striped Top and J.Crew Citron Chino Shorts are currently on sale.
Use code: SPRINGBEST to receive 25% off your entire purchase.
Later on that day, I switched to this J.Crew Boatneck Striped Top because it arrived in the mail, and I loved it so much I had to throw it on.  Such a fun neutral for this time of year!
If you’re on Instagram, you should try this Photo a Day fun, for May!
This was my first “Photo of the Day” for May.
1. I Bought This. These Tory Burch Sunnies.
I already have them in tortoise, but liked them so much, that I got them in black too.
Hope y’all have a terrific Thursday!

  1. I am obsessed with your ring! Also, I keep seeing those sandals from Target on different bloggers and I keep meaning to go see if they still have them. I hope so, because they are super cute. Even if I have a million variations of gold and nude sandals for Spring/Summer, what is one more pair to add to the mix?! haha

    1. They are actually pretty comfortable! I'm not too big on getting glittery shoes because the glitter does tend to flake off after awhile, but for only $16? They're too fun! Make sure and find them hanging with the flip-flops at your Target. I couldn't find them at first, because I was looking for them on the shelves.
