Mother’s Day Gift Guide: More Beauty Ideas + An Ulta Giveaway!

Yesterday, I popped into Ulta to see what all they had available for Mother’s Day.
After I received an email about the free tote with a $40 fragrance purchase, I knew I wanted to take advantage.  Thought it would make a great gift bag for my mom’s gift.
When I clicked on the email to check out more details about the perfume, Ulta’s site had gift guides for different types of moms, which I thought was really fun and organized…
So which mom are you?  Or which one is your mom?  I tried to think of which mom gift guide I would fit into, but in all honesty, I probably could fit into any of the categories…even at different times of day.

Back to the fragrance promo, I’ve been wanting this ChloΓ© perfume ever since I smelled a sample of it a few weeks ago.  I knew it was coming home with me this time, so I could get the free tote.
Other Favorite Fragrances

Ulta carries some of my favorite products I use daily (both would make great gifts!)

Dries my hair faster than any other hair dryer I’ve ever owned in the past.
Currently on sale!

Have had mine over three years and still use it at least twice a week.
New Products I Want to Try…

I’m a big fan of matte lipstick.  I feel like it stays on so much better than regular lipstick.  These two colors from Lorac were new favorites, both matte.  Like many other beauty stores, you can sample almost every color, but Ulta definitely has the largest variety and carries more products than any other beauty store I’ve been to.  Receive free mascara with any $25 Lorac purchase.

I’ve seen videos of this one, but have yet to try it.  They make it seem so easy.  You’ll have to let me know if you’ve tried it and if you liked it.  I’m still deciding.

Hot Tools Curling Iron
While I use a straightener to get my waves, my stylist uses this curling iron with a 1 1/4″ barrel.  I got this one to try.  Loving the limited edition neon color, and it’s on sale for only $39.99!

Love the little compacts these Too Faced Blushes came in.

These dry shampoos come in a few different colors.  They’re tinted, so if you’re between salon visits and need your roots touched up, try this.
New Products I Got Yesterday…

Ulta Japanese Eyelash Curler // Orly Nail Polish in Headliner and Push the Limit (Can’t wait to try these!  Love how bright they are!) // Murad Spot Fast Fix Treatment (I have this one bump on my chin that I can’t get rid of.  Hoping this will do the trick!) // Spornette Paddle Brush
(Paddle brushes are the only kinds of brushes I use when styling my hair.)
If you’re ordering, receive free shipping with orders over $50.
Again, all of these would make great Mother’s Day gifts, or just gifts for yourself!
To shop more categories for gift ideas: Top 25 // $25 & Under // $50 & Under
If you’re in the Charleston area, Erin at Ulta was super helpful on my trip!  Also, Tarte Cosmetics is hosting a Beauty Event on Saturday, May 7th to showcase their new summer collection.  Call the store to make an appointment (843) 856-8500.  Make sure and sign up for Ultamate Rewards too.  I get really good coupons from them in the mail, all the time!

  1. Super City Block from Clinique! We just moved to Florida so SPF is a must and I love how light this product is and that it doesn't smell like sunscreen!

  2. My favorite beauty product is mascara, I love Covergirl Lashblast for everyday and LancΓ΄me Hypnosis for special occasions.

  3. I have been using beauty counter face wash every evening, i love it! the smell is not strong, just very refreshing! Leaves my skin feeling clean, not to dry.

  4. mine is nailpolish! I am a huge fan of essie – and love the red bottle sally hansen top coat! it dries within 5 minutes and looks like you had a gel manicure

  5. I love Essie Fill the Gap base coat. It always creates a nice smooth base (especially with sheer colors) and I think it extends wear, too.

  6. I just recently received the blush bronzer duo by Nars as a gift and I am obsessed! Such vibrant color! Also, I always have to have mascara Im currently using estee lauder but when I run out I definitely want to try a new brand.

  8. Love Bare Minerals Prime Time BB cream primer. It's lightly tinted with SPF and so good for your skin but doesn't feel like you're wearing anything heavy like a foundation. Also love Bare Minerals powder

  9. My favorite product at the moment is the new Nars liquid Laguna Bronzer! I just add a bit to my foundation and it really gives me a "just got back from the beach" color!

  10. My current fav is Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster. I love that it doesn't smell funky and I can mix it with my normal moisturizer so my face doesn't break out.

  11. i've used almay eyeliner in raisin for YEARS because it's less harsh looking than black on my skin tone, and i love bumble & bumble hairdresser's oil.

  12. I was gifted the Smashbox Studio Must Have: Eyes Set for my birthday and it is my new favorite! Loving all the products in it.

  13. I have the beachwaver! I got it off Rue La La when the had it as a special. I was skeptical because I have never been able to make my hair look good using a curing iron. I love it!! Once I got the hang of it, it seemed to be a miracle worker for this curling iron challenged gal! πŸ™‚

  14. My Kenra heat protectant spray! Works better then dry shampoo as far as second day hair. I blow dry my hair, spray prior to straightening and the next day my hair is as good as just a blow dry day. Brush, touch up or use my curling wand with little to no additional product.

  15. Awesome giveaway!!!! My favorite beauty product is actually pretty boring. Every night I put a small amount of vitamin E oil in my hand and a tiny drop of coconut oil and lightly apply it to my face and neck. My skin has never looked so good πŸ™‚

  16. I ordered the hourglass ambient lighting edit palette from Nordstrom before Christmas. I LOVE it!!! It makes my skin look so smooth and it gives me a wonderful glow. This palatte also has blush and bronzer, which are both beautiful!!

  17. Awesome giveaway!!! My favorite beauty product is pretty boring. I put a small amount of vitamin E oil in my hand and add a drop of coconut oil and then lightly apply it to my face and neck. My skin has never looked so good πŸ™‚

  18. Mascara. I don't know what I would do without it. I'm using Benefit's Rollerlash right now and it's so great! I have naturally straight, thin eyelashes and it really curves and pumps them up.

  19. Man I stink at beauty stuff. This is so eye-opening for me. Coincidentally, I went into an Ulta yesterday for the very first time!

  20. I love Trish McEvoy's eye base in demure. It's a quick product that can be worn alone and gives a great brightness to your eyes or can be used with eyeshadow to help it stay in place for 24 hours.

  21. I have extremely sensitive skin and I LOVE my Weleda almond calming face wash, lotion, and night cream. My skin is sooo much happier since I started using them! πŸ™‚

Ashley – I just love your blog and take some much inspiration from your ideas in my outfits!!!

  24. My favorite beauty products are Tarte's lip products, particularly the Amazonian butter lipsticks (plummy rose is my favorite!). Moisturizing, long-lasting, and great pigmentation.

  25. Oribe Texturizing spray has been a game changer! I'm training for a marathon and shower 2x per day, but only wash my hair 3x per week. It's great for in between days and worth every penny.

LOVE LOVE LOVE your blog! Thank you for sharing with all of us.

  27. Favorite Beauty Product – ties: Origins – Vitazing Tinted Moisturizer – it is SERIOUSLY the BEST!!! Light coverage for summer, WITH SPF!!!

OR – KIEHLS Ultra Face Cream … it absorbs!! Which I feel is SO RARE in face moisturizers – when I wash my face after using others, I can feel a slime, or grease, when the water hits my face – NOT WITH KIEHLS … my skin LOVES it!

  28. Can't live without my hair straightener and it's a 10 leave in conditioner. Would live to know what hair product you use bc your hair is never frizzy and always looks perfect!!!!!

  29. I LOVE Nars Radiant Creamy concealer – by far the best concealer I've ever used – easy to apply, looks natural, covers, and stays ALL day!
