Monday Manners: Drop Sugar Cookies

I hope y’all had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend.  The hubs and I headed to the Well Fargo golf tournament on Saturday, and the weather was perfect!  We had the best time relaxing and watching some great golf.  On Sunday, we headed over to my parents for lunch, and had paninis on my mom’s new panini maker.  They were delicious – basil, tomatoes, salami and cheese!  She also made these yummy Nutella crescent rolls for dessert that were to die for!  I think I had one too many, but I couldn’t resist!  To top it all off, we had the in-laws over last night and served ribs, twice baked potatoes and salad, and ended it with lemon meringue pie.  To say I was stuffed by the end of the evening is an understatement.  W and I made these for the mothers yesterday, and they were a hit!  W especially enjoyed getting her hands in the dough, and mixing it up.

Here’s the simple recipe, in case you’re interested in trying them yourself.  We added the pink icing and later, the yellow sprinkles, as our original touch.  🙂

1 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 to 3/4 c. sugar for tops of cookies
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
Bake at 375°F.
Use soft butter, beat in sugar, egg, milk and vanilla in butter. Sift salt, baking powder and flour together. Add to creamed mixture, mix thoroughly. Drop dollops of dough one inch apart onto greased cookie sheets. Bake 8 minutes or until delicately brown. Remove from cookie sheets at once. Enjoy!

Couldn’t help, but share a couple of recent photos of the girls…

Visiting the in-laws last weekend, matching in their Lilly Pulitzer Monkeyin’ Around Dresses.
Having some quality (educational) time, reading their books after their naps.

Some girlfriends and I are headed out for dinner and a movie tonight.
I’m so excited, we’re going to see Something Borrowed!
I feel like I’ve seen the preview a gazillion times now, so I’m glad I’m finally getting to watch it!
Happy Monday!
