GBS 5K

Please come out and support GBS, by running/walking in a 5K on May 1, 2010 near South Park.  It begins and ends in the parking lot of EarthFare.  One of my friends, Hannah, has three children whom I used to babysit a lot, was diagnosed with GBS before her third child.  It started off as a weakness in her joints, and then slowly resulted in paralysis.  With the Lord’s help, it took a full year for her to slowly recover and learn how to walk again, but thankfully she conquered it, and is now fully healed.  Praise the Lord!  That woman has some strength, but she definitely couldn’t have done it alone.  Some patients that are diagnosed with GBS are never even able to walk again, let alone, have another baby.  To read more about GBS, click here.

Well, Hannah has outdone herself for the cause, and has hosted a race every year, for the past 4 years to support GBS.  Having run in it every year, you would not believe how much the amount of participation has grown from year to year.  And this year is definitely not going to disappoint.  I still remember the first year, helping her make posters for the different tables of those volunteering and sponsoring the event.  Now, there are sponsors abound, and even Sir Purr (Carolina Panthers mascot) and Rufus (Charlotte Bobcats mascot) will be there!  If you’re interested in running/walking in it, click here.  I know she would love to have you out there supporting the cause, and cheering on the ones that have been diagnosed with GBS and will walk the Miracle Mile.  Please run/walk, for those who can’t.

NO EXCUSES!
My sister and I walked/ran in it last year, both pregnant!

And here, with my family, minus two sisters.
And here, with some of my sisters after the race, racking up some goodies.

  1. Nice link to pictures… I forgot they were online 🙂 I hope everyone's in town for the night before the race too! (Blake will be gone to Alabama again, so I'll need y'all to celebrate with me!)
