Thirsty Thursday: Melting Olaf + Piperlime Sale + OOTD + My Frye Paige Boots on Sale!

Found the glass at Marshall’s.
Okay, so how many of you have watched Frozen more times than you can count?  Don’t get me wrong, I love the movie, but I think I’ve seriously watched it enough times that I can recite it word for word.  Enter Melting Olaf.  My friend Kristen found it here, and shared it with me earlier this week.  As soon as I saw it, I knew it had to be this week’s Thirsty Thursday cocktail.  I tried a glass yesterday, and I must say, it’s really tasty.
Anything with Elderflower is yummy in my book, but this one truly hits the spot.  Super smooth, with a subtle sour kick.
From Bon Appetit: “A clear cocktail for those parents who have seen Frozen exactly 14 times too many, and will get their fill of miniature Annas and Elsas come Halloween night.”
Melting Olaf
(Makes 1 Serving.)
1 1/2oz Aquavit (My ABC store didn’t carry it, so I got something similar – Luksusowa Potato Vodka.)
1oz St. Germain (Elderflower Liqueur)
1/2 Fresh Lemon Juice
Club Soda
Carrot
Combine aquavit, St. Germain and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker.
Fill shaker with ice and shake until outside of shaker is frosty, about 30 seconds.
Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice and top off with club soda.
Garnish with a carrot nose, er, stick.
Cheers!
I took Vaughn in for his 2-yr check-up yesterday.  31.2lbs!  He did so well, and barely cried.  Afterward, we had to make our regular stop at PetSmart to visit all the animals.  I think he’d be okay if I let him bring them all home with us.  He’s obsessed!
After putting Wheeler to bed last night, she came running out about five minutes later.  “Mama, my tooth came out!  My tooth came out!”  This one is #2 for her.  She told me she wanted to put it in a ziploc bag again, so it wouldn’t get lost under her pillow.  I told her to go hop in bed, and I’d find one and bring it in in just a sec.  Well, I went ahead and put her money in the ziploc bag, instead of her tooth and slid it under her pillow.  Kissed her goodnight, and that was it.  Probably the easiest tooth fairy gig to date.  Ha!
Last night, Lanier was out of town, so I relaxed and watched some tv, painted my nails Essie’s Bobbing for Baubles (appropriate for Halloween, right?) and wore these new heart pjs.  They are the softest, most comfortable heart pajamas.  And right now, they’re currently 25% off with code: STYLETREAT.  I’m a 4/6 and got them in a Medium.  They’re a little big, but I like my pajamas that way.  Plus, I can wash and dry them knowing they won’t shrink too much.
Take an extra 25% off sale items at Piperlime with code: SHOPSALE.

If you’re a longtime follower, you’ll know that after a long search I found my perfect pair of riding boots last Fall, the Frye Paige Riding Boot.  I have worn them so much already, and guess what?  They’re on sale!  I know it’s early to start your holiday shopping, but if you’ve had them on your holiday wish list, now’s the time to get them.  They were just recently marked down, so all sizes are currently in stock.  I have them in the Tan Antiqued Leather.
Paired here with these jeans, this top, this watch and this ring.
For sizing, they run big, so order at least a half-size down.  I’m an 8.5 and wear a 7.5 in them.  I’m 5’6″ and they hit right below my knee.  One of the best parts about Fryes is that they last forever.  I remember last year, while I was on my search, a reader told me she still wore a pair of Fryes that her mother had worn when she was younger.  I think she said they were 17 years old.  That sold me!
To see more of my Fall Favorites, check them out here.
I hope y’all have a fabulous Thursday!  Effie has a Halloween Parade at school this morning and Wheeler has a Fall Celebration Party this afternoon.  Should be a fun day!

  1. What an adorable drink! I'm excited to share this with my friends. And congrats to your little one! 🙂 How cute.
I have the Frye Paige boots in black and LOVE them. I bought them quite a few years ago and the sole is coming apart from the boot now. Luckily Frye will re-sole them for a really decent price! I just have to actually get around to sending them in …
