Cucumber Basil Smash + Spring Things + an OOTD

Throwing it back to a few weeks ago, when I attended the Charleston Wine & Food Festival for this week’s Thirsty Thursday cocktail.  If you’re a gin lover, you will LOVE this concoction.  So delicious smooth and refreshing!

Cucumber Basil Smash

1 1/2 Part Hendricks Gin

3/4 Part Fresh Lemon Juice

3/4 Simple Syrup

One Small Bunch of Basil (3-5 leaves)

3-5 Cucumber Wheels

In a mixing glass, muddle basil, cucumbers and simple syrup.  Add Hendricks gin, lemon juice and ice.  Shake well and finely strain into an iced double rocks glass.  Garnish with a bunch of basil and a cucumber wheel.  Consider also muddling seasonal berries for a flavorful variation.

This booth was also probably the most entertaining one at the festival.  Loved this guy!

Spring Things

Tory Burch Miller Sandals

These sandals have always been a longtime favorite over the years.  I’m always anxious to see what colors she’ll debut each season.  Last summer, I fell for the light pink which have sold out now.  This summer, I’m loving these patent stripes!  I have no doubt these will be selling out at some point too.  Just so cute and nautical for spring/summer.  For fit, they’re true to size.

Kate Spade Genice Sunglasses

These pretty sunnies have a great shape and I’m loving the pastel pink for spring!  I know these will be a pair I’ll be grabbing for again and again.  They arrived over the weekend, and I’ve already worn them so many times and received so many compliments on them.

Kate Spade Citrus Crush Bracelet

Talk about a fun pop of color!  Be prepared to see this bracelet on repeat in a lot of outfits this spring/summer.  I love orange paired with so many different colors, from navy to mint, light pink to light blue.  Just such a fun piece!

Yesterday’s OOTD

Just like with any new piece, before I even order it, I’m already thinking of how I can style it.  And this is what I wore for the first time out in these striped sandals

Pink Tee (Loving how they added a little more length to the sleeves for a more flattering style.  Currently 30% off with code: HAPPYSPRING, making it only $17!  Lots of other colors are available.) // Shorts (30% off with code: HAPPYSPRING, making them $31!) // Sandals // Bracelet // iPhone 7 Plus Case (Aren’t the oranges so cute?)

Happy Thursday!

  1. The reviews of the new Chino shorts on the J Crew are less than stellar — several reviewers commenting on thinner material, not as good quality as in years past, etc. Have you noticed a difference? Are they still worth the price?

    1. I noticed the reviews and was fearful of ordering because of them. But I did anyway, and now have them in four colors! They are definitely different than their chinos I’ve always loved in years past, but I still really like them. They are thinner, but they’re more comfortable and the fabric is softer. The white is a little see-through on the pockets, but I usually wear tops that cover my pockets anyway, so that didn’t bother me. Hope that helps!

  2. Love those striped Millers, so cute. I had a pair in my hand but opted for the royal tan Minnie’s instead. I might have to revisit them ?

    1. They just had their Private Sale, so I’m not sure. But you know I’ll keep you posted, as soon as I hear anything!
